Well lets put it this way darling.... you and your sister have 9 year old daughters
a few months apart???
is that right?
Well nine years ago... I was well past it!!

That was what I went by, and my youngest is 36.... my oldest is 50 this year!
So are you older than me then?? ;-0)

And Kitty... we were talking about that this morning OH and me.... I DON'T HAVE A LAP TOP.... and see no reason why I should.

I want one is not a good enough reason is it? lol

That got thrown at me as well. Its cause your old you think that, charming !!!

My eldest is 23 ys old and she got her first one when she was aged 13 yrs, which was quiet young then!

Well Tina I am in complete agreement with you... I am much older than you and my children are all grown up.... but I know I wouldn't allow it.

I remember when everyone was striving for a coloured TV set, and of course my children wanted one too.
I told them that *they would be that very last people in the street to have a coloured TV.* AND they were.

We can't have everything we want, and I think today children think they can.
Sad really.

Eldest got mobile at 12 so laddo hasnt got one and will get one this birthday he never goes out where I dont know he is so doesnt need it really.

at 9 they are still children why not let them be children and still play with the toyws that are inteneded for their age

Hello Ann, fine thank you. I tend to lurk now, lol.

I just felt i was so wrong, even my mum couldn't see anything weird with it. I won't put wrong as it is a personnel choice i suppose but i feel for my daughter its to much to soon.

We are having the same discussion with my 11 yr old triplets (in yr6 Primary)about not having a mobile phone until summer hols as they are going off more, not on there own but with friends. They keep saying all 3 of there classess they are about the only ones with no phones. I also work in there school and it does amaze how many younger children have phones and even laptops. We have only just conceded to go getting mine a PS2 between them(only because it was going cheap lol)

Tina, I am sure they don't appreciate them or look after them at that age. I would say 11 or 12 is plenty old enough for a lap top.

Good to see you on here by the way, how are you? Besides aggravated?

I just cannot believe my sister thinks her nine year old is old enough to have a lap top, not a kiddies one, a proper lap top. With Internet connection.

Might as well add she has a mobile phone, a tv, dvd player..

We both have daughters the same age a few months apart and i cannot see why mine should have one either, although she thinks she needs them she is going to have to do without till she is older as far as i am concerned.

Just might as well add my sister in laws nine year old daughter also has all the above as well.

I mean if they have it all now what do they get when they are older?

Just wanted to moan, feel much better already............
