Incidentally did you know that Adidas was named after its founder - Adolf Dassler? That was just after WWII in Germany.

PMSL Sue.

Years ago, my mum had her feet done and was in plaster up to her knees for 6 weeks. Since then she's never grown hair on her lower legs. Hey presto, permanent hair removal LOL.

You know, Summer, I was just going to say something about hair. I notice, Dove prides itself on its "Campaign for real women" and shows you the curvier ladies on their adverts but every last one of these "real women" has hairless armpits and tidy bikini lines.

That's what really gets on my nerves. That and "teenagers" advertising skincare products to treat acne when they've clearly never had acne in their lives. (Not bitter or anything - it's just that I haven't had truly flawless skin since I was about ten! If I woke up tomorrow and my face magically looked perfect, I would probably collapse with the shock!)

~Summer Scribe~ Report 25 Mar 2008 23:28

Well, that said Kate, I did notice that one of them real women had a scar that may have been an appendix scar (same place as mine) the other day. I guess they might have Real Women but they still have to conform to the beauty company's standards, a bit like in that Colleen's Real Women prog.

I know what you mean though. Everytime my skin clears up and I think 'wow I've not got a spot' I have an outbreak the next day LOL.

I used to buy into the skincare for spots and spent money on stuff, guess what... made my skin worse.

My other pet hate ad is watching 14 year olds 'waxing' hairless legs and smiling! Yeah right!

I think Myleene looks great after her baby, and it may just be that she was a lucky one who was all baby so when Ava was born, she didn't have lots to lose all over. She worked a lot during her pregnancy and looked great all through.
When Twiggy was on the Jonathan Ross show the other night, I could see her face was ageing, she was starting to sag a bit round the jowls, as is Judy off Richard and Judy and she is chubby. I also noticed that the dress Twiggy had on, one of her own design apparently, hid a little tummy just like mine used to be till I got fm and became so much less active. Now mine looks as if I am about to give birth lol, which at nearly 61 would be a money spinner lol

Liz, SS, I have plucked my leg hair for about 8 years now, and have several bald spots now as the more you pluck the less it grows back. Same with my eyebrows, plucked them a lot when young and barely grow back now.

~Summer Scribe~

~Summer Scribe~ Report 26 Mar 2008 01:40

I agree, Liz, she did look fantastic during her pregnancy, you hear people talk of a woman glowing during pregnancy and I think Myleene just embodied that.

I dunno if I could pluck my legs, they're incredibly hairy and I just can't reach most of them to even shave never mind pluck. I really must make another appointment to get them waxed ready for spring LOL. I rarely bother with my eyebrows except to make sure I don't get a monobrow. Although I do seem to spend a lot of time plucking my chin and that doesn't lessen. LOL.
