The whole bible Jill is one long on going story
began before Aristotle or greece was ever thought of.
Genisis tells of creation--Adam and Eve listened
to rebellious Angel and were thrown out of Eden
loosing hope of everlasting life.
Mans creator now makes a provision where by
he can reverse the sistuation
The provision a perfect man Jesus--he conquers
dispite all the odds against him.
The final chapter, he imprisons satan---takes
over rulership of earth--brings all men who wish
it to perfection and gives them everlasting life on
earth

Colin, Adam and Eve is part of the Old Testament, so therefore a parable.

Most of the Bible is historial fact, Alkopahuntas. Very little are parables.

Lindy wasnt be offensive i hope. The gospels are from the new testament. I am, believe it or not, a Roman Catholic. Its what the kids are taught at school. Sorry if i sounded rude, should.ve worded it different.

Therefore, the creation - as written in Genesis - is not an eyewitness account or even second or third hand - but a fable, or a myth. How can it be anything else?

And I thought that some of the ancient Greeks had something to do with written accounts of the same period ... The Epic of Gilgamesh springs to mind (not readily mind - a bit rustily but I know it's older than the bible ...). Now off to find a copy of the E of G as not sure who wrote it but I know it's old.

OK - the Epic of Gilgamesh is at least 1,500 years older than Homer.

From skimming through the introduction it's Sumerian. It contains a flood story - a Noah story. There's this bit in the intro "The opinion, at one time widely held, that the Genesis account was a late refinement on a story once current in all the cities of Babylonia, is not now so general; while the view that it derives directly from a very old and independent history has many supporters." My translation was first published in 1960 - so no idea what the current view on that is.

The Bible is an interesting historical document-
an attempt by primitive peoples to explain the
world and its origins as they saw it.
But what relevance it still has today.....?

I love the expressions primitive Mick, Where i
lived before my present home now, there lived

However, they were all that primitive, that we
still use their mathmatics, scientific principles,
and i could really bore you to tears.
How ever , when you look at their beautifull jewlery
and works of art--And see the un-imaginitive
shall we say rubbish we see turned out today
then i say--Lets all become primitive.

tribes or Viking Invaders----While they, like the
English , didnt invade or make war--no--they were
invited to Colonise. The murders of the indigenous
people-(sorry) Barbarains was only to defend your
land, and given you it was, by the King of England
no less. Or Ceaser of course.

They should never have learnt us plebes to write and read, that way we would have never come to know of theirs (The Powers what be) Evil and
well thought out piraticicall doings-(sorry) colonisation when all the kind people asked us to come and take their land.

Hi all,
just a silly thought, means nothing really, but.
I see our creator if you like, as a scientist,
he/she has placed a swab of something in one of those little dishes you find in a lab, and looks on to observe the habits of the microbes placed within, but soon it is noticed be the scientist that the microbes are begining to kill each other, but instead of throwing the sample out, the scientist keeps it to take notes for future tests to see what won't end up killing itself out.

just a thought.
