On Dawnie's dinner thread, I said I was having Frog in a ditch for my tea, and Dawnie didn't know what it was..My family call Toad in the hole, Frog in a ditch, and it made me wonder what funny names do people give to meals or food instead of the proper name.
Here's another one, that's obvious Frog's spawn.

Come on and tell us.

One son doesn't like the toad in the hole so I have to cook a separate hole for him without a toad !

we have so many different names for things

slugs n chesse sauce for macaroni cheese
worms- spaghetti lol
trees is broccoli they hate broccoli but love trees lol

if its sothing new im giving them its always noddys fav or bob the builder favourite food lol

we used to have trees too

When I gave my youngest cauliflower once he asked where the colour had gone as he thought it was trees gone wrong :-)

when the girls were younger they were fussy eaters and would only have sausages, fish fingers or chicken, one day I told them they were having Pink potatoes and they were intrigued and ever since when we have corned beef hash, it's called pink potatoes.

I call my kitchen 'The laboratory' cuz its where I do my experiments (well cooking then)
I juust name all my dishes the same

LOL Stray that's sneaky but very good lol.

I usually put what I want them to eat on my plate and tell them they are too young to eat it BUT if they are REALLY good and eat up their dinner I'll give them a taste.......lol ok naughty I know but forbiddon fruit and all that....... it gets them eating lots of different stuff as well as their own dinners lol xx

Also my kids seem to call anything chicken, even fish if it's not in batter.
