I should have been born in Camberwell to Scottish and N.Irish parents.....but at that time the London hospitals were full of returning soldiers and SELondon maternity was evacuated up to Leicester.....

I don't consider myself a Londoner, I feel more Scottish than anything......I left London when I was 7, but went to school there......we lived on the Camberwell New Road with a pub in front, on a cross roads with the traffic lights with traffic and trams day and night......I went to school there.....

When we moved to the new town I thought I had died and gone to heaven......fields, green, I could go out and play......none of the grey drabness.......my niece works up there, so did OH until 10 years ago and my son often has to go on business.......I enjoy the theatres and eating out there.......but I am glad Mum and Dad decided to leave.......it is healthier here (perhaps not because we still have Buncefield)....lol

i love london don't think i could live any where else.

i was gutted when i had my second son as i was in dagenham at the time and did not have time to make it back to my own hospital so now sadly his birth cert has essex on it and not london.

My mum was born in fulham and lived in fulham and chelsea untill she got married to a fulhamer lol
then she came to middlesex.....
and thats where i came along well about 14 years laterlol but my great nan and 1st grandad are buried in brompton cemetery
but i do love londoners

Im a Londoner and all my family.. going back over 300 years.
They started around Westminster Soho, St James, Covent Garden etc then worked their way outwards. I still have family in Islington and a sister in Fulham but I can no longer afford to live there.
Im quite happy down here...though Im always happy to go home for a visit :))

Seen the beautiful view (protected by act of parliament) from Richmond Hill

Watched a performance at Shakespeare’s Globe

Walked along the South Bank of the Thames from the Design Museum to Waterloo Bridge

Met a World War II bus conductor at London’s Transport Museum

Shopped and watched the buskers at Covent Garden

Been on a river cruise and seen London’s famous sights from the Thames

Shopped in at least one of London’s ethnic areas like Green Street in Newham or Southall in Ealing and eaten a curry in Brick Lane

Seen the giant Amazonian water lily in the Princess of Wales’ conservatory, Kew Gardens

Seen Botticelli’s Venus & Mars and Van Gogh’s Chair at the National Gallery

Got lost in the maze at Hampton Court Palace

Visited one of London’s lesser known museums like the Old Operating Theatre Museum and Herb Garret.

Ridden on the world's largest and most stylish observation wheel, the British Airways London Eye

Seen Tate Modern's controversial exhibits, minimalist architecture and fabulous river views

Been on a sightseeing tour of London – on the top of a number 11 double-decker bus

Seen magnificent new architecture and old dockers’ houses from the vantage point of the Docklands Light Railway

Stood at Island Gardens at the top of the Isle of Dogs and seen what Sir Christopher Wren called "the best view in Europe" – looking across the water to Greenwich and Wren's Royal Naval College and the old Royal Observatory, and watched the Time Ball fall at 1300 hours (it drops at 1pm because the astronomers were busy with their telescopes with the midday sun).

Discovered a different side to London's history, perhaps learning about the ghosts that haunt it or the famous authors who wrote here, by taking a guided walking tour.

Explored some of London's villages – Hampstead, Dulwich, Richmond, and Wimbledon and some of its more cosmopolitan areas such as Brixton, Whitechapel Road market, Hackney and Harlesden.

And all these and more make my home town a great city.

My family are all londoners - in fact it was only the youngest 3 of us that was born just outside London.

Being raised with Cockney rhyming slang, which I have now forgotten most of now, made me feel every bit of a Londoner.

When I worked in London I felt right at home.

Oh mother was a Londoner but he hates the place,!so does his cousin and would never go back after 40years in OZ although he still owns property there,he hates it when he does have to come over,he said the Londoners are not what he remembers them as,everyones a stranger,

All my Dad's mother's family came from Clerkenwell, Holborn, Hackney, Stepney and Mile End.
His fathers's family came from Forest Gate,which was considered Essex when my Dad was born, but the family originally came from Ramsden Bellhouse, Essex.

My mother's father came from Bedford, and her mother's family from Barking, Essex.

I was born in Barking, which was considered Essex, but now I see it is classed as East London.

I now live in Hampshire, and have not been to London for over 30 years.

But yes I do like Londoners.

I love going up to London for a weekend to see a show,or to The Albert Hall.

There is a super little restaurant on The Strand(name slip's my mind just now..old age lol) near The Strand Palace hotel..where you can go for supper( food not fantastic but atmosphere wonderful)..jump in a cab..see the show..then they will reserve a table for you to return for pudding and drink's..alway's cheese on the table when you walk in, along with any wine not drunk with first course...never come across service like this any where in the world before..lovely

One of my son's work in the city all week and is alway's glad to return home..to the stick's on Friday though.

I think it's the same anywhere you go now..certain places and people to avoid..good and bad all over the country

Every town,city when you havnt lived there will not be to everyones cup of tea,and those who has lived there see changes that wouldnt entice them back for love or money.
it depends what you remember about the place,and what you liked it for,

I know people from Newcastle.Manchester and other large cities born and bred for many years who now wouldnt wish to ever live there again,,

I was born in Brixton and spent most of my childhood in Deptford where my granparents lived (it has all changed now, ie the house where she lived has gone). My Dad was a south Londoner through and through.

We moved to Kent when I was quite young, now live in East Sussex. I like popping up there to see relatives and do some shopping, but I would never live there again.

Like visiting London but I don't think I could cope with living there.
As for Londoners, I've hardly ever met any. Whenever I've got lost in London and asked directions, the answer I always get is "Sorry don't live here I'm as lost as you are".!!

Like lots of others I have called many places around the world `home` but for me London will always be my true home having been born and raised in Stoke-Newington. Could never afford to live there now.
Still think its a great place to live and work but maybe its because I`m a Londoner as well. LOL.
