My accountant would not allow me to claim for a new £10.000 kitchen and an airconditioning unit for my 2nd home, not that I've got a 2nd home to put them in .. only a 2nd hand caravan on west sands selsey thats 3ft under water. |

MPBW? What is that exactly please? Anyone who falsely claims for expenses is thieving - there is no other word for it. I have never stolen in my life and don't ever intend to, I was brought up better than that. It's certainly nothing to brag about. |

Colin, that may be true, but how can you claim a housing allowance for something that you own outright and don't have to pay for. Also, if we have to buy our furniture out of our pay then why the hell can't they? It's not like we get furniture allowance for a new sofa and bed, is it? These people earn enough money without getting more in allowances than some of us could earn in two years. |

As my OH says - they get to Westminster and their feet go in the trough. Labour used to be a party for the people - they call themselves New Labour and Tony Blair was a prime example of grab all you can and more. Why did they all fight to keep these expenses quiet - an MP is paid by public money, his expenses are public money (and just recently I read where they can claim something like £250 per week expenses without giving any receipts- there are those who would like that sum as an income) all the money they receive is from the public - therefore the public have a right to know how much each MP is claiming and for what. They already have about the best pension in the world and who voted for it - they did. |

Because it is greed not need and there does not appear to be anyone in Westminster with the guts to stand up and say 'this is not right - we have sufficient'. The country is in dire straits and could get worse - if we had honest men and true with genuine expenses perhaps we could have clean hospitals or a couple of nice new prisons so the streets would be safer. |
