I've been considering one now for the last almost 3 yrs...... I know what I would like and haven't changed my mind......however my OH is very sniffy about it .....he's concerned that in a few years time I may regret my decision.

I've given myself a five year deadline to think it through my and my friend has offered to take me for my 40th present in two years time.

I just wondered if anyone regrets their decision as most people I speak to have said they don't xx

Muffy fair be it from me to comment but..

1) Tats are for young people your nearly 40.

2) They look so common sorry but they do.

3) You may regret it. I have a homemade ones since I was about 11 and I do.

4) Well I dont have to worry what to get you for your birthday. What size tracky do you want ?

I think ive told you before Muffy I dont regret mine at all and ive had it almost 20 years.

The small dolphin is more of a blue whale as I am bigger 20 years on.

BUT ......and this is important - I took a lot of advise about where to have it. No one knows unless I tell them I have a tattoo or unless I choose to display it.

I have to say seeing OAP's - in particular ladies on the beach with mishapen and discolured Tatt's isnt a good look.

But if you are doing it for you - then go for it enhoy it but think very carefully about it and check out the artist before you go and pref have someone recommend them.

added: Muffy we are approx the same age - I wasn't suggesting you were an OAP!

Will agree Hayley,,,,,,,,people ,are ,not common that have one or them,,,,,,,,,,,,,,but common because they have,,they are every where you look,,,,they are not unique,,,,,,

it was a sign in the late 1890's and early 1900's that a tatooed women was ok,,,,,,,,if you know what I mean,,,!they were to be seen in pubs where the sailors docked,,,,,,,,,,,

I'm with Hayley on this one.

I loathe tattoos and never think they look good on anybody.

Unfortunately I had to have three done in hospital when I had radiotherapy recently. They are only little black dots (look like blackheads ugh!!!!) and I hate them with a vengeance!

I couldn't speak to my daughter for two weeks when she had some horrible serpent tattoo'd on her lower black when she was 18.

She's 26 now, and regretting having it done.

My f-i-l had one of a beautiful girl and her name when he was a young man. He didn't marry her, or anyone else, till he was 50 and his wife gave him what for forever about it!! Often wonder who the young lady was.

A friend had a very discreet rose on her hip a few years back; didn't look too bad then she had surgery and it disappeared.

Get a fake one, ladies!

I have always fancied having a butterfly on me bum. But like Maddie says I too have put some weight on lol - have put weight on - pmsl - have always been on the very large side but now even more so! So instead of a petite blue butterfly it would end up looking like some very cold bat on me arse!!!

I wouldn't have one, personally, but I think if you're going to have one it should be unique and not a general one that anyone could have.

My dad has a rose tattoed on his arm with the name m*******. this was a woman he was engaged to. They broke up before he met my mum. Fortunately mum has the same name...we joke how he went looking for someone with same name. It's very faded now and looks a bit rubbish, but it's a part of him and a part of his past. Brother has a huge one on his back which will no doubt start to look crap as his body starts to get saggy.
