Dr gave me tablets but they are killing me today and have been since I woke up screeching with them.

Hi Dawn

I suffer from restless legs, and sorry but you just have to put up with them. I never know what to do with myself when they start. I would suggest you massage them on the calves. I find standing rather than sitting sometimes helps.

Hi Dawn, I suffer occasionally and so sympathise, my sister is also a sufferer, it is hereditary.
There is something you can get from Holland and Barrat, but can't think what it is called at the moment.

Well it wont hurt Dawn. As for buying something for it I am sceptical, as to me it is a sort of cramp, and you cannot get anything for that.

Hi Dawn

I find it best to keep legs cool so have a cool bath or remove clothes and open a window (lol) don't let anyone see you of course! Then lie down !

My husband gets a good kicking in the night when my legs are really bad, and usually he then massages them for me. So get your husband motivated.

Granny he was trying to help this morning but didnt know what to do for the best and the FM gives me sensitive skin so sometimes it hurts just touching me.

Kaz
Darent have a bath without anyone here am prone to falling in/out of them.
Do you think my neighbours are ready to see my naked legs lol

Granny Report 11 Mar 2008 12:12

Just a gentle massage of the muscles really helps. Tell him he has to be gentle, but yet you need to feel that he is rubbing the muscles. Be ready to scream if he touches a sensitive spot, then you can kick him without feeling any guilt whatsoever. Ha

Do you take statins? they can cause restless legs and cramps. If you do take statins ask the Dr to change them for another brand.
Best of luck

here's another idea - quinine helps restless leg syndrome, drink a glass of tonic water before bed - it does work.
Hope this helps,
Mary

erghhhhhhhhhhhhh tonic water yukkkkkkkkkk. Sorry Im a wimp arent I. Have some quinine tablets somewhere but with all the others i take not sure if can take them as well.

Jean (Monmouth)

Jean (Monmouth) Report 11 Mar 2008 19:41

Statins are for cholesterol and can cause muscular pain. I stopped taking them because they made my joints ache, but I was also taking quinine for restless legs so I would say it is safe to have them. My condition is mostly caused by diabetes. I also find that wearing a pair of long socks in bed seems to help. I wear them all year round. Jean
