Were you referring to BMDs when you mentioned the 100-year rule? That rule applies to censuses but not BMDs. BMDs right up to, and including, 2005 can be searched on various pay-per-view sites.

FreeBMD is up to around the 1920s now; that's not due to any rule, it's just a case of the volunteers working forwards through the years.
