Some advice from a police officer of 32 years standing.

Once a juvenile has been cautioned, the case cannot be processed to court. It then rests there. Your sone cannot possibly be at court for an offence for which he has already received a caution.

He miust have been charged with some offence - if you want to tell me in a PM what the actual wording of the charge is, I am sure I can give you better advice than you seem to have been getting from your solicitor. He should have told you that a caution is the end of a matter. Full stop. Unless it is a civil court hearing you are going to....?

I can only reiterate what others have said. I find it disturbing that they sought out his msn addy and then contacted him. I'd say that they're the ones with the issue here not the child. They really should know better.

As has been said it's very easy to alter chat logs if they're printed out. Might be worth asking someone to talk you through looking to see if you're own computer has a copy of the log for comparison.

Shame on two adults for harassing/bullying a child.

Why did they get his msn address from another child, who shouldn't have given it out anyway? Surely if they were neighbours they could have come round and spoken to him?
Sounds most odd to me. Might be worth talking to the Child Protection team of the Police, in your area.

I went a lot of times when my son was in trouble. I found the magistrates firm but fair. I found it a bit embarrassing when it was one of my old school teachers!

Be prepared for a long wait though.

Well that is why children shouldn't be talking to adults online, Taff - it's the adults motives that are quesionable not the childrens

Yes, why has this neighbour got MSN addresses for children?

MSN chat logs can be saved to the computer - but I cant remember if that is an option you have to tick or if it's done automatically.

Hi Linda, was your son aware that they were adults when he started conversing with them or have they led him to believe they were children too (like so many others!) sounds weird to me
Maybe the police should take a closer look at their computer and other conversations they have been having!
Hope everything goes ok. You should talk to the solicitor about compensation for all the distress and upset it has caused you both.

If its civil,it shouldnt go to mag,. court, only criminal cases are heard in Mag,. and civil is county court!!

I had to court about 5 years ago...but ti county court over a compension claim..I was so surprized when I was greeted by my barrister in wig and gown.I was them called in to see the judge and he asked if I had ever been in a court room before? I said I hadn't .He asked if I knew the difference between a criminal court and the one I was in. I said I did. He could see I was nervous and decided that he hear the case in his chambers still under oaf but without wigs and gowns .

Mick, its a civil thing not police charges, thats why i cant understand why its gone to magistrates.

I have moved pc into lounge so i know who hes talking to, but you can change your name on MSN. At least i know what hes saying though.

aha, you have a good point Uggers, now reverse it, what are adults doing talking to a child online??

Good luck, Linda - it might be worth monitoring who he's talking to in future cos a 12 year old shouldn't really be talking to adults online.

editing conv,. on msn is easy Linda, if you have msn, contact a friend, then scroll back up, and you can reveiw all past conv,. with that person!So, if its been printed off, it could have easily been edited!!

Even if you cant edit the conversation on msn you can always copy and paste the transcript to a word doc and edit it there, so could well have been tampered with

Cant understand it. They got his addy from another teenager up the street. I have seen the conversation cos they printed it off, but my son says its been edited. Can you do this? I dont know much about MSN. Didnt put in a counter claim cos I thought the whole situation was childish. If you dont like MSN dont have it on your computer.
