No his death made him a maryter to his supporters, life imprisonment without chance of parole..I saw his death on video when I was abroad and he went to the gallows defiant as ever...if he had faced life behind bars he may have come to realise his evils

Colin,

Problem is, someone has to pay for his keep. Guess who would have contributed.

Kay,

I was going to say that but perhaps it was to easy for him.

sorry folks but yes

hanging is the punishment of his country

and if they had not hung him

his followers would of staged a coup

and reinstated him

ie back to dictatorship

and how many innocent

fellow country men have been murdered

or disappeared

or woman or babies raped

Staffs Col

Staffs Col Report 13 Feb 2008 18:57

If he had been imprisoned in a prison outside of Iraq a coup would have been impossible. Dictatorships exist all over the world but alas not all of them in oil rich areas to attract our attention

Colin

if Saddam had been imprisoned

in another country

Evey foreign aid worker

would have lived in fear

of been kidnapped

with the offer of trading their lives

for his release

he was hung to stop this happening

JoyBoroAngel

JoyBoroAngel Report 13 Feb 2008 19:07

we did not hang Saddam

his own people did it

for crimes against them

dreadful awful crimes

we have only read about

aint we luck we live in England

Perhaps the voice of his thousands of victims women/men and children should be heard on this,,,,,,,,,,,,,

****they could say we didnt deserve to be slaughtered and neither did my children,****

do you think they would want him living,,???,,,,,,,,,dont think so,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Staffs Col

Staffs Col Report 13 Feb 2008 19:09

If the death penalty is a deterrant why do the US states that still impose a death sentance for certain crimes have no lower crime rates than those states who don't.

Joy see your point but still believe he should have been locked away....his death did not save aid workers, security staff or armed forces being killed

JoyBoroAngel

JoyBoroAngel Report 13 Feb 2008 19:10

how many innocent

children had to suffer

before saddam

got what was coming to him
