Yes, I had baths with my mam, but not with my dad.

I can also remember being very tiny and having a bath in the kitchen sink.

We had a brand new council house from when I was 2 so always had a bathroom, but I think I remember being bathed in a big round enamel bowl/bath when I was small, in front of the fire. We didn't have central heating till I was 15.
Don't remember being bathed with my younger brothers, and definitely not with Mum or Dad, never saw them without clothes, on don't think I even say Dad with underpants on. Neither of my parents ever stripped down to swimwear on the beach, they didn't swim, just paddled in the sea with us. No wonder I never learned to swim!
I used to have my son in the bath with me til he was about 2 or 3.

I think we had baths with Dad and i remember Mum calling wither my sis or I up to scrub her back but her bath was her time.

Sis and I bathed together more often than not and then as we got older it was a fight over who got the water first....

As for tin baths, I remember them from visiting Ireland as a kid. My grandparents didnt have a bathroom until the mid 80's and Nanna used to put on a coal fire and then we shared the tin bath in front of that. My sis used to get terrible chilblains!

No Rose!

My nan lived in a posher area of Liverpool than us, and had a bathroom with an inside toilet and a bath. I remember having the occasional bath at her house. The rest of the time I was given a bath in the back kitchen sink, or a good scrub down when I got too big for the sink.

When I was about 12ish, I was given 6 old pence on a Friday to go to the public wash house.
There the lady in charge filled the DEEP bath with lovely hot water, gave me a big white towel and let me stay there for about 1/2 an hour. Then she would knock on the door and say "time". Time for me to get out.

When we emigrated here, I was in my element. Not only did we have a bathroom, but we also had a shower!

Can't be bothered with baths, they take too long. I'm a shower person.

When I was a kid, bath night was always on Sunday, yup - once a week, whether we needed it or not. lol

Dad had the bath first, the my elder sister, my brother and I would share it next, then my poor mum got in last.

When I had my own child, back in the 80s, we used to have baths together, especially when she was a baby.

And I NEVER saw my parents naked. Lordie, I dont think they even saw each other naked! lol I remember dad would always get undressed and into his PJs in the bedroom, while mum got ready in the bathroom.

No - we didn't have a bath, just an outside toilet.

AnnCardiff Report 13 Feb 2008 23:12

we had a tin bath and really there was no room in it for more than one - anyway, as the water had to be heated up in the gas boiler first, youngest [me] got in first, followed by Mum and then Dad. Never once saw Mum or Dad undressed and thinking back on it, apart from pictures in the National Geographic magazine [usually of natives in the jungle somewhere!!] the male body was an absolute mystery to me until I got married!!

No Muffy, our bath was one of those galvanised ones that hung on a nail outside the house........come to think of it, I think it would have been small for an adult......maybe they just had a stand up wash.....

No.
I was the only girl in the middle of 6 boys untill I was 11,( when mom had twins (another boy) but my first sister,) (and another sister later)
so I never had baths with the lads, however we did share the bathwater, the eldest three boys had a bath first... then I had fresh water and a bath to myself, then I would get out, and the youngest boys would get in...
I was never allowed to walk around without clothes on, and if I had my dressing gown on, even when older, my dad would say;''I hope you have got clothes on under that''

Golly I'd forgotten that, a zinc bath in front of the coal fire in the dining room.
My brother and I went in separately.
When we came to Canada I was 7 and we had bedrooms on the 3rd floor of the house, with our own bathroom. my brother and I opened the window and brought in some HUGE icicles, and put them in the bath ( a wonderful deep one on legs). I remember our shock when we checked our icicles and found only a few drops of water left.We weren't used to a bathroom being warm!!!!

They were either in nightclothes and dressing gown or fully clothed.
