There used to be special Faggots and Peas shops. One could take a container and faggots and peas would be ladled into it, for an early version of an instant takeaway.

I don't know of any shops now but perhaps they have them still in some areas.

I remember the butcher's used to sell faggots and pea's, take your own jug or container, and yes shops that sold just faggots and peas yummy..I have never made my own, dish me up a plate full Sal and some bread to mop up the gravy lol..

1 pint Tepid Water
3 oz Breadcrumb
1 Tbl malt vinegar
1 tsp dried sage
1 tsp dried mixed herbs
1 egg beaten
1 lb Pigs liver or (mixture of liver & lights)
8 oz Belly pork
2 Onions
Salt & Pepper to taste
Caul Fat ( Optional)
Yorkshire duck was also known as duck a muffin at the pork butchers in my Lancashire town
It was a warm duck with gravy and a muffin

Put our household down as faggot fanatics!
However, I am lucky in that just down the road from my house is one of the top five butchers in the country - and his faggots are fantastic!
So I can just swan in there and buy either plain ones to cook in my own gravy, or even better, faggots already in foil trays, in different types of gravy.
They are being entered into a nationwide competition within the next few weeks.

I used to love faggots and gravy.
You could buy them at the butchers in my long past young days.
