We had some schemes like this in Norwich a few years ago but racking my brains to think of the name of the set up.
I think it is an excellent idea, you have credits. Some schemes you buy so many credits and that goes into an admin fund. You do something for someone and they pay you with so many credits and then when you want something done you use those credits to 'pay' for it. That way all the jobs are evenly covered, not a little job in return for a big one, so it is very fair. You can do lots of things like babysitting, granny sitting, while someone goes out, cake making, etc altho have to be careful these days I suppose and might need to get checked out for childcare jobs, not sure about that.
I would certainly use it - I just never got round to joining up with our local one.

probably the points scheme that somebody mentioned would be a good option otherwise you may get some people that do all the taking and not do any giving as indeed you get in all walks of life.
However I have been trying to find somebody to install a gate for my mum since august and so far have not been able to get anybody unless I pay a professional gardner or builder.

I think I would do this in a local community but not over the net, I'd be too worried about personal security.
