Base vallence sheet is what i meant to say...sorry.

The problem is you cannot put one on cos of the mechanism of the up n down thingy! lol (it's actually inside the base)

Slept wonderfully last night! but the bed looks a mess lol
Got to buy HUGE new duvet and covers.

We have a king size deluxe Tempur mattress and I love it. It cost a fortune but I was lucky to get it staff discounted.
I love it best when it's cold and you sink in... apparently that's Tempur's biggest complaint (I'm not talking British cold)
I need it for my hips as it eliminates pressure points.
Grandkids hate it as there's is no bounce.
Not everyone likes Tempur mattresses but if you persevere you won't be sorry :-)
Cheers Gerry

You can buy vallance sheets (frills) of different lengths. Our new bed was much higher than the one it replaced, and the old vallance sheets were 2 or 3 inches too short, but we found longer ones in BHS.

Update after first night in new bed....

Ok..ish...still find it hard....

Problem i find is this...

The base is about 18 inches deep and WHITE.

I cant find a base sheet frill!

If it's left to the eliments...it's gonna be filthy in a couple of weeks!

I went back to 'Dreams' and was told to make an elastic skirt out of old ones!!!!

This bed cost over £2000 and i have to make an elastic skirt??????

Me thinks they are gonna get this bed back.....and i will go elswhere.....

I have one of the mattress toppers, Gerri. It is as soft as sinking into a vat of warm blancmange...but is a bit sweaty hot:-) BC XX

Thanks guys n gals for your input.

Watch this space in about 2 weeks time (when new bed arrives)

Gonna make you all jealous now cos i have ordered one of those beds that sit you up and also put your legs up! Electric thingy!

You dont wanna know how much! it's from 'Dreams' and was in the sale with £900 off! Himself thought we were gonna spend a couple of hundred just ona new mattress...hee! hee!

When OH snores,i'm gonna have control of his buttons! lol

The bed is made up of two 3' ones joined together so if i want to sit up,it wont disturb his nibs....(unless i want it to! lol)

Will have to buy all new quilts n covers now.Never mind, shrouds have no pockets lol

Only worry now is.....as an after thought.....

When i put the thing up...the flippin cats will go underneath it!
Might get two squished cats by morning!
aagghh!...oh dear! :-((

Just had an idea....might put some netting around it to keep em out lol

Sleep well everyone.

Thought I'd come back to let you know the first night on the new mattress was wonderful. It's so comfy and cosy and I slept sound as a pound.

My dad has ordered one now.

Must say I didn't have any sleep issues when I was pregnant like most women are supposed to have. I can't say it was the bed for sure because I didn't sleep on a regular mattress.

Regarding using mattress protectors; with the Tempur, you're not supposed to have anything more than a sheet over it because you lose the benefit of the foam.

Puss, be careful about spraying the mattress instead of using a cover, you could do some damage to the material under the fabric.

We have a mattress topper, memory foam, it is great, really comfortable and excellent for my back. The old style mattress protector goes over the topper and mattress so can't see the topper mattress needing washing very often.

my daughter has a pocket spring mattress with a thick layer of memory foam on top of the springs, best of two worlds. This is what I am going to get too.

best thing i ever bought you shouldn need to wash the cover that often if you put a sheet or two over the matress its like sleeping in cotton wool, if you find its hot which i dont use a lighter tog quilt, i also have the full shape pillow which i use for my knees in bed and have the shaped one for head, this has stopped the pain in the neck when i wake , hope you enjoy

don't have one but I do have a feather topper and that is gorgeous - it's like climbing into a warm cosy nest every night - all snuggly!!

Julie Report 8 Feb 2008 08:30

We've had ours for about a week now. Not once have I woken with the dreaded bad back, for once it's a pleasure n I look forward to getting into bed, when you turn over the mattress stays still so you don't disturb your OH, it's comfy n warm n well worth the money.

We bought a 8" Luxury Gold with 2 free pillows (not used them yet) from 'the memory foam mattress website' for £289, free delivery within 3 days. (I believe it was a sale which ended 2/2)
