Hi Caz,
Children develop different skills at different times, but the modern way of teaching especially at primary school expects them to be good at everything.
My youngest 13 really struggled at Primary and I was virtually told he wouldn't amount to much, but he loves seconday school and is doing ok with teachers who bring out the best in him and see him as a really nice kid who tries his best.
He even reads bppks now.
Tell Abi how proud you are of her, and try her with comics, Andrew always looked forward to his Beano.
It would be a boring world if we where all really clever and knew everything.
Love to all of you
Pat.

Awww thanks Deanna!!

No the teacher is a lovely lady and isnt making her read, Abi is hiding her book and as I have another dyslexic child we are seeing exactly the same symptoms.

My youngest two are from my second marriage, eldest have no dyslexic tendencies. OH has mild dyslexia so feel its inherited. i will fight, trust me!!

Caz..... Abi is 5. Children learn to read at different stages in their school days!

When did they label her as Dyslexic?

And if she is..... then fight, fight, and fight again.

You are her mummy... and as someone has said, is the teacher making her self conscious, by asking her to read in public?

AND ABI............ you are clever darling, very clever.

Hi Lilymoon, Her teacher has been fab and very sensitive, she is desperately concerned Abis self esteem doesnt suffer as Williams did for the same reason. But you sure have to fight the authorities for funding, dont you?It is so easy for them to slip through,

Thanks Brenda, I feel I will have to fight a lot harder to get a diagnosis for beth than Abi. Beths education is slipping away and its heartbreaking, her behaviour is stopping her learning,

Great minds Liz, eh lol!!

it has a list of people "with the gift of Dyslexia"
Abi won't know most of them yet
but I bet she'll know Orlando Bloom!
