Just another warning, don't believe if the Gas Board or any other body have serviced your boiler that it is ok.
I knew someone who had his boiler serviced just one week before he died from carbon monoxide poisoning, and his wife was seriously ill for many months after the event. The boiler was not serviced correctly, the Company concerned finished up in court but no consolation to the death of the person
This is factual, he was a member of our Golf club, and it probable that if he had detectors installed Richard would still be alive today, he was 43 years of age.

So if you do not have detectors get them tomorrow they could save your life.

Do not buy the type that changes colour if monoxide is detected they do not sound an alarm, you need to spend around a minimum of £20 to get a satisfactory one

Well, I'm glad it appears to be a false alarm, but definitely keep a close eye on it. And on the plus side, I now know who to call. :-)

Mmmm firemen.

Dawnie

..any chance of you shutting the vents off and closing any doors or windows,,,just to check that you are not suffering from a CM build up,??it will only go off when it reaches a certain level,,enough to be a warning,of its presence,,not at a dangerous level,,,,,,,,

will leave as much ventilation tonight and close it tomorrow when children are at school and see if it happens again, dont want to even risk it tonight even if the alarms havent gone off again.

Dawnie, please please, if you need to test it to see if there is a CM build up........DO NOT stay in the house. Shut everything and go out, see if its going off when you get back.

If you dont' you may never know if it goes off or not. Carbon Monoxide is a silent killer, you won't know until its too late.

It would be better if you kept the ventilation giong and called an engineer to check your boiler or any other source.
