Is this your thread on rootsweb Margaret? Seems everyone has come up with the same possible answers.

This one may be worth looking into.

I had discounted that one yesterday because of the age written very clearly on this record.
And on the image it says he's a shopkeeper, not a miner:

Henry Palfreyman
in the UK, Incoming Passenger Lists, 1878-1960
Name: Henry Palfreyman
Arrival Age: 45
Birth Date: abt 1849
Port of Departure: Australia
Arrival Date: 26 Mar 1894
Port of Arrival: London, England
Ports of Voyage: Sydney; Hobart; Melbourne; Adelaide; Albany; Colombo; Port Said; Ismailiya; Naples; Gibraltar; Plymouth, Devon, England
Ship Name: Ophir
Official Number: 98673

I don't see another version saying he was 29 - not so far, at least.

EDIT:

That reply on the rootsweb thread says he arrived in England before he left Australia ??

EDIT again -
I'm not sure if that's the same voyage ?

On the image, the date of arrival is 27 April 1894, not 26 March 1894.
I don't see that March date anywhere on the image - maybe a mistranscription.
.
They would have left Australia in March - a voyage would have taken about a month.

I have this morning received from New South Wales a copy of the memorandum concerning the sale of land that belonged to Henry Palfreyman--.In Corrimal, NSW,

He sold the land (38 1/2 perches) in 3 August 1897 to William John Jeffrey, but was living at Birdwell near Barnsley, Yorkshire, at that time.

That would allow him to be married to Ruth Greenley . although I have not found his return journey from Australia.

thank you all for your interest and ideas.
