Right, I see. So, as I know from a later census that Robert is with a Mary, and in a 1911 census they claimed to have been married 45 years, and that they lived in the East End area, I can presume that he married Mary Lewis, in Shoreditch, in 1866. |

I think you are pretty safe with that, but if you want to be 100 percent certain, |

That's great, thanks a lot for your help. William C is my direct line. His wife Barbara's father, William Riley is, from what I have found so far, from Ireland. He says he was born in Middlesex in the 1871 census yet when I found him (and I'm pretty sure it is him) in the 1851 census it says he was born in Ireland. Are there any ways of tracking when he migrated to the UK and where abouts in Ireland he came from? |

I am wondering about this baptism, William Riley is a shoemaker as on the census, might give a clue as to maiden name of wife, middle name Lewis? |

Going back to the Thos Riley in 1841, he is a waterman , when his daughter Jane marries, one of the witnesses is a William...I think it 'might' be a badly written 'Riley' , perhaps someone else would take a look at see what they think? |
