Most interesting Mel.....

Certainly something to go on....

Wilson is a popular name..certainly in Yorkshire....but I can't find a anyone with a connection to these.

Plus having a middle name you'd think it would make it easier.... :(

CRIPES_A_MIGHTY Report 25 Mar 2009 12:15

John 1st married the daughter of a well to do Surgeon.
Then i have a feeling he had an affair..and then married the lady in question.

But Im not 100% sure...but something happened between 1858 and 1863.
By 1864 he had a new wife...
Not sure if the 1st wife died ...or he got divorced and married the other women. She was a good 15 years younger than he was.

CRIPES_A_MIGHTY Report 25 Mar 2009 12:10

What happend to all that money?..lol

I cant find any reference to the family anywhere.

At least I can't find anyone related..very frustrating as this is my family line and I know so little.

Have had great success with my mothers side...all the way back to 1035 and beyond..lol.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 25 Mar 2009 11:56

Well if he was called John maybe that was after Ellen's dad!

What year of birth have you for John Wilson? and when did he marry?

CRIPES_A_MIGHTY

CRIPES_A_MIGHTY Report 25 Mar 2009 11:54

Thier son John Shepherd Wilson was born in 1828.

Was wondering where the Shepherd name came in.
I believe he was an only child..as I have not been able to find any siblings.

I was thinking his mothers name migth have been Shepherd..
eg Ellen Shepherd...but it is Prest.

So?.......
I know John's father name was Thomas as I have one of Johns marriage certs. But It doesnt say who his mother was.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 25 Mar 2009 11:53

That Thomas that I posted was an Ag Lab.

CRIPES_A_MIGHTY

CRIPES_A_MIGHTY Report 25 Mar 2009 11:48

Ok..again..no wonder not getting anywhere..

GGRR!..changing spelling of name.

I had the marriage date..

Thier son John became a chemist & druggist.

I was thinking Ellen may have been the daughter of Henry Prest who ran a glass company.
And Thomas was one of the sons of Wilson & Son's book wholesalers.

At least that was what I was thinking...lol..
