as far as i know the marr certs only give the fathers details & its only a birth cert that gives mothers mmn
i have the marr reg details but as i say it wont give her mmn

I sent David the marriage reg info, which is why he had the name.

David, having her father's name from the marriage cert could make it possible to find her parents' marriage. It would be nice of him to have fancy unusual names to go with the Walsh; even if not, it's essential info to have.

It will also give you her age, also essential info.

She may have been married before, in which case there's no point looking for her birth as Walsh. (Note what I said about a possible reason for the way the marriage is recorded, in my PM.) The marriage certificate would certainly tell you that -- her birth surname and first husband's surname, if that was the case. Given the date of the marriage, 1944, she could have been a young war widow, for example.


Yikes, forgive me. Some of the info I sent you was completely confused. The one marriage was 1944 -- the right one you refer to here. The other one -- that I thought was the same one -- was actually 1955! Nonetheless, given the oddly coincidental names, it *could* have been a remarriage for her.

ive ordered many certs in the last 4 years thankfully most correct but i think this is a totally diffrent person ive NEVER had a cert where the cert gives fathers names in wrong boxes until this one

Emily - address 7 Curyon(?) Street. Father was a warehouseman.

Okay, the hope/assumption had been that this Sidney was the son of Sidney Evans and Isobel Newton, Southend being a known location of members of the Evans family.

This Sidney's name and father's name are wrong, so it was an unfortunate coincidence.

Since he's not related, could you remove the marriage details from your post? "Wrong one" will do the trick now.

Just a note about the dob for that Doris. You posted 1920-25; that was pure guesswork. It is never good to post a guess as fact! What you did know was the date of her marriage, and it's the *known* facts that people then did set about trying to ascertain. Since there's really no chance that anyone reading would recognize that Doris from your post (especially with the wrong dob guess), best thing all along was to obtain the marriage certificate as you did.

-- at least, again, that seems like a reasonable assumption -- a 20 March birthdate with registration in April makes sense. So obtaining that death certificate to see whether a child or spouse was the informant would be my next step I think.
