One to consider going on 1911.
The only one I can see anywhere near for his reg quarter or possible surname/s,totally no Tommany,s in sight anywhere.
And nothing possible in 1907.

Mistranscription again possibly or misheard by the registrar?.

Dont get too excited ,his birth still hasnt been found yet.
And they would all have had the same surname if Catherine and William henry were living together as they wouldnt have wanted the neighbours to find out they werent legally married...
And census only go on the age that the person was at the time it was taken,in the case of 1911 thats the 2nd april.
If he was born 17 march as it says on his fathers war papers his birthday had just been,Im rubbish at maths so will need to work that one out.LOL

thanks every one, I do have his death cert, july 1968 and his marriage cert to elizabeth kinsella oct 1938 both with william allinson on it. problem started when i could not find williams birth cert, i went through his brother issac allinson and sister annie allinson's birth certs to find ther mothers name and it came back her maiden name was tommany. then i found info on ww1 with william henry allinson who was all 3 kids dad, married to catherine tommany, war recored said he had 3 kids issac, annie and william, william born feb 1907 in ulverston, but all 3 kids were named as tommany then later on in life allinson. I have tryed willain tommany and allinson just incase, looks like they were born tommany then cahnged to allinson hwen catherin married willaim henry.family tales
always said he was born in ulverston. im so confused why i can not find his birth cert any where, good job i saw him with my own eyes.bet i have confused every one now, lol

I can't find a birth in either name. You can't be sure of where or when he was born if you don't have his birth certificate.

Do you have his marriage cert for his fathers name?
If so you may be able to find him on 1911 census.

And do you have his date of birth?
If not when did he die as his death ref may have his birth date on it.
