Hi

I am trying to find information on Turkentine or Burch Wheeler, from Colchester.

It turns out they share a grave at Colchester cemetery with my relatives Eliza Springett who died in 1950 and Charles Springett who died in 1926.

Eliza's daughter Ellen married an Ethelbert Wheeler in 4th quarter 1915, so it could be his parents maybe?

Is anyone able to help.

Thats really confusing isn't it! No Turkentine or Burch!? The lady from Colchester cemetery emailed me today she said 'Also buried in that grave are 2 people by the name of Wheeler, one person named Turkentine and one named Burch – are these relatives of yours? There is the possibility, however, that they could all be total strangers to each other.'

As I had found a marriage reference for an Ellen E Springett to Ethelbert Wheeler I guessed it was something to do with him, however its obviously not his parents. Maybe they had some children or something that died. hmmm! The plot thickens...

Whoops! Got carried away and forgot to say thank you to you two for Ethelberts details.

There are no instances on Ancestry of someone with Turkentine as a first name.

Unfortunately the lady at the cemetery did not give me any further information on them. I thought they sounded like strange first names. Its very odd.

I am so sorry. Have been really really stupid. Just re-read what the lady at Colchester said, she means there were 2 people named Wheeler buried there, 1 person named Turkentine and another person named Burch! I read it the wrong way.

No, I don't. Maybe they were complete strangers.

I'm so frustrated. Ancestry won't let me pay for a month using my debit card. I did it last month but for some reason tonight when I try and subscribe they will only accept Visa/Mastercard etc, and I don't have a credit card. so annoying.

Ok. I have received further information from the Colchester Cemetery.

The others buried in the grave with my great-great grandparents were.

Gertrude Alice Burch
Died August 30th 1884 aged 5 years

George Edward Turkentine
Died 26th August 1901 aged 3 months

However the cemetery lady said that in those days they buried a child in an unpurchased grave and later another child on top. So they could have been anyone. However, any info anyone could find on these would be most interesting.

The two wheelers buried in the grave are Charles and Eliza's daughter Ellen Elizabeth and her husband Ethelbert Wheeler. Ellen died in 1971 aged 75 and Ethelbert in 1973 aged 85.

Would there be anyway of finding out whether they had any children? I am going to get their marriage certificate.

I wonder if perhaps the '5 years' may be an error.....

It may be that the wee girl was only a few days old, as opposed to 5 years.........and the parents didn't get round to registering the birth until later............
