I have Samuel Dunn who married Sarah Fehr in December 1861. In 1871 they were living in Market Street, Kingswinford and Samuel is described as a builder, born Peckham, London. I would like to find him on the 1861 census (if anyone could oblige) but I have not got his age on 1871 census which would help identify him. Could anyone assist please? Thank you. |

Actually I personally didn't find them on the 1871 but I did personally track them on the 1881 when they are living at Bromley Lane, Kingswinford. Unfortunately I didn't note his age so I am having difficulty working out when he was born so that I can possibly find his parents/siblings. Many thanks to you both. |

this looks like him and a brother in 1851.. privately educated by a governess in a house with a few other children? |

Thank you Diane very much. Gosh that looks interesting. This is obviously either, as you say, private boarding school or - dare I say it - a school of correction !!! Now where on earth are his parents? Yet another puzzle. |

Folks - apologies. I must be completely fuddled tonight - the info I gave on Samuel and his marriage is correct but his wife is Louisa Jane NOT Sarah. Sarah is Louisa's sister. I've been on this computer too long and my brain is scrambled. Sorry. |

Me confusing everyone Diane. On the original thread I referred to Samuels wife as Sarah by mistake. I really am sorry. |

Margaret... no its ok... on the 1871 though, the census has Samuel's place of birth as the same as Louisa, as opposed to Peckham/Camberwell etc. |

Think I'm confusing myself too now.... seems I've found 2 possibles for 1851... I can't read the occupation of the father in the later 1851 I posted.. looks like a sexton something (which would be church related) |

Diane - I am truly grateful and I am so sorry to have made this so difficult. I think I'll take a break now, and have a coffee, perhaps the caffeine might restore my brain cells into working order. Thank you again |
