Could someone look up a marriage of Fred Barrass in janqtr,1886 at Thorne to Clara ?please and can you find her maiden name as i can`t seem to find out from the gr marriage records. I don`t know much about them prior to 1901 census.?hope you can help

This is a possible marriage for one of the other two Barrass wives ................. but you will have to chase the Barrass family to be sure that they are actually related to Fred and Clara

I got the birth certs for Fred and Clara but could not get their marriage cert as they did not get married according to the gro-they are both on the same page with others,but did not marry each other.Can you help.? yet again? i`m sorry to bug you but can`t get to the bottom of it !! Fred was born in stainforth and he did marry someone called clara, (born in North Ouram ) but it`s Not Clara Langfield !!
Any chance of you finding out who else was on that page?
Oh and Fred`s birth cert revealed that George Barrass was his father and Mary Barrass (nee barrass!!!) was his mother

I'm sorry that it is seemingly not Fred and Clara's marriage.

I have rechecked and rechecked, and cannot find the fourth person on the marriage registration.

There is only one other name showing on that page on freebmd .......... John Robert Bassindale

I have looked in ancestry to try to find him on either the 1891 or 1901 Censuses, but can't be sure of finding him. There certainly is not a Bassindale with wife Clara that I can find.


I have only one thought:-

When you ordered the marriage certificate did you request the certificate for Fred Barrass and Clara Langfield

ie, did you name them both on the order form?

If you did, all I can suggest is that you send off for it again (I know it will cost another £7), but this time just ask for Fred Barrass without naming the bride.


I'm suggesting this in case there is a spelling difference between what you requested and what is on the certificate. GRO will not send a certificate if this is the case.
