Hi Julie, the spouse should say James Greenwood, not William James Greenwood,
it says James Greenwood on his son's birth cert, don't know what to do now.

I wouldn't put too much store on the different name. People got called by their second christian name or even a nickname and used that name when registering facts.
For example,my paternal gran was Emma Ann. her second hubby called her Annie and he registered the births of their first two children and stated mums name was Annie nee,,,.well that what he called her!!! PLUS he registered both children as if they were married but they didn't marry until the youngest was 15 months.

Info on certs is only as good as the informants
knowledge or what they wanted to reveal.

Hi Tox, I wouldn't be put off by the use of names. I have a MAZEPPA who apparently didn't marry or die with that name cos I can't find him ! Joan

Thank's Julie, I know he had a son called Leonard James born 1914 but he was killed in 1916, a kind person from Genes Reunited looked this up for me, it says James Greenwood was his father, I know that James Greenwood took over his father's shoe buisness in Preston and James had another son because it was & son, thanks for looking up John J Greenwood as this could be the son he was in buisness with.
Another lead
Thanks
