In their purest form "strays" are persons who were born within the county with a reference recorded outside the county of birth

Hi everyone. just found this by trawling the internet but I'm not sure what it means.

I've come across the word 'stray' before but I'm not sure what a stray is, can someone fill me in please -

Also on the same page there is a Thomas age 20 born the same place as William. Could be his Brother

The image that Maureen found is very unclear, and could just as easily be Tummon/Tummen.

Hi Julie, I believe they were married in hull in 1860. (from Yorkshire BMD site). Elizabeths maiden name was Crowley

You may find it hard to pin him down, particularly if his name is mispelt or mistranscribed as there are a lot of people who it might be. A possible in 1861:

Hi, could anyone find William Tummon in 1861 - 71 for me please. William was born about 1839 in Marsh chapel, Lincoln. His wife was Elizabeth born 1841 in Hull. They are found in 1881 on RG11 /4751 /135 /27, under the name TuRNmon. Thanks, Ruth.
