Mhairi Queen of Scots Report 25 Aug 2007 01:58

Well i did renew, your stuck with me for another year...

Not that i'm over here that much anyway, i'm spending a lot more time over at SFT (Scotlandsfamilytree, the friendly forum). come over and say hey :) Its free (for the most part) but does have a sub section which is just teeming with helpful people with loads of resources. A great site for anyone with Scottish relatives.

I think Doug may be right though, more room for advertising with all this white space.

I think there is a alterior motive for the changes, wide open white spaces leads to more advertising!!!!!

At first I like everyone else didnt like the new format. However the advantages are when someone is trying to find someone you can see if they have received replies. Before you might try to help them, sending a private message , with perhaps a bmd or census but others could have done this too. Now you wont be repeating info. Since they added the Your Threads its good.

I like it now

Maud Report 24 Aug 2007 16:20

I hardly ever use this site any more, nearly every time I do, its changed yet again!!!

Why oh why do they keep doing that?
I only keep subscribing in the hope that one day I will strike lucky and meet a contact, otherwise I would dump it.

They must be making a FORTUNE out of us

Mhairi

Please do not go, what will we all do without you?
Did not look on again till now and suddenly threads have appeared, and all the one's I book marked are there again now as well as those I did not get round to book marking?
Am I going Mad?
Or did they add this later?

Testing...

It would have been nice for them to tell us we were reverting back to maiden names (not that i'm married)...

I cant actually type what my first reaction was when i saw that they'd changed the layout, again!

And now we are being limited to how many words we can type...why?

My subs up on sunday and i'm seriously considering not renewing. I love helping people on here but nothing was wrong with the old layout and way of doing things "If it aint broke, dont fix it". True it might have needed a "lick of paint" not a blooming overhall.

GR should actually listen to what people want, rather than putting in their own changes which dont help in the slightest.

Norman

Norman Report 23 Aug 2007 13:23

It would have helped if they had had the decency to explain the changes and where to look for particular
proceedures.
I have been looking for a thread of Anne of Scotland
which was there just a couple of days ago and now it's disappeared.

Norman.

Hi Linda
I totally agree, what a nightmare

Linda Report 23 Aug 2007 00:17

Aren't these new 'improvements' marvellous! I've only been posting on the boards for a week or two and it was bad enough bookmarking my bits and bobs again, can't imagine what it's like for long-standing users. Nothing against the new layout, but there was nothing wrong with the old one. Why change it?

Janice

Janice Report 23 Aug 2007 00:10

Hi Julie & Everyone else
I did find them but what a farce it is really.
Will go back now and try and find them again and book mark them as advised.
Thank you
Janice

Its rubbish, I can't get to the list of names in my tree without a random search of the site,

Julie

Julie Report 22 Aug 2007 23:49

Hi Janice

Was just having a play, when you find them you can bookmark them and if you want to go into them again just go to My Bookmarks. Hope that makes sense

Janice

Janice Report 22 Aug 2007 23:27

Hi Kath
Thanks for that.
What A SHAME
God I am unhappy about that as I had lots of threads saved on my threads only over the last two years I have been on this site.
Nudged messages that gave me information on where to look for certain things.
What a Nightmare that is.

This has changed again since I was on this afternoon.

There isn't a "My Threads Only" button anymore. I've contacted GR to ask if this is coming back.
