Helen in Berkshire Report 14 Nov 2003 07:29

Jan If I may make an observation - be careful with the death you have found in Hackney, as it may not be your relation. There is a Bromley in Kent (where I come from originally) and there is a Bromley-by-Bow in East London (where some of my ancesters came from). It's easy to confuse the two! Best wishes for the rest of your research Regards Helen

I can't believe that someone has posted this thread and not even bothered to come back and check it. Whats the point???? I know sometimes they get lost, but this has been up the top for the last few days. I have contacted people on GC who have names in their tree that are similar to mine, they reply, I reply again and then I don't hear anything from them again. I don't know, what are people like these days.

Thanks, Janice, look forward to hearing from you. Helen, thank you for the warning, but I am aware of the two Bromleys - my mother's mother's side came from Bromley by Bow; the Sarah Standing that was found on VRI (my mother's father's side) was Bromley Kent. I just wondered whether the Hackney death is the right one, 1883 I think, because she was missing off the 1881, and could have been in Hackney Hospital. I've searched the 1881 census for every Sarah Forster and Foster shown as other than Wife (as she wasn't home with husband and children), and she just isn't there. I've even tried putting just S and F, in case she was in a mental hospital or even prison, but nothing came up. I'm going to start another thread in case this original one gets deleted - I'll come back and post the number here so we can meet up again on the new one. Thanks again for everyone's help Jan.

I've started a string The Sarah Standing Saga, message no. 369800. Could any replies be put on there please, in case this one gets deleted. Jan.
