In 1881 the family are as follows Edwin LITTLEJOHNS Head M Male 51 Plymouth, Devon, England Builder Of Theatrical Contents Employing 12 Men Mary A. LITTLEJOHNS Wife M Female 37 N Bekford Sarah J. LITTLEJOHNS Daur U Female 19 Bloomsbury Scholar Charles LITTLEJOHNS Son U Male 13 London Lambeth , London, Middlesex, England Scholar Milly LITTLEJOHNS Daur Female 10 London Lambeth , London, Middlesex, England Scholar Joseph LITTLEJOHNS Son Male 3 Upper Norwood Marion LITTLEJOHNS Daur Female 1 London Bloomsbury , London, Middlesex, England Victoria LITTLEJOHNS Daur Female 4 m London Bloomsbury , London, Middlesex, England Eliza J. SMITH Serv U Female 19 Hammersmith General Servant William LITTLEJOHNS Son Male 11 Upper Norwood Scholar In 1891 I then have this Francis Charles Nash, head, age 31, cabman, London Sarah J Nash Wife (formerly Littlejohns) age 29, London Ivy Nash, daug, age 5, london Violet Nash, daug, London William Littlejohns, b in law, age 21, stage carpenter, surrey Nellie Littlejohns, s in law, age 20, milliner, surrey Joseph Littlejohns, b in law, age 13, scholar, london Alfred Littlejohns, b in law, age 8, scholar, london. Nowhere found is the littlejohns parents Edward or Edwin Littlejohns who would be aged 61 and Mary Littlejohns who would be aged 47. Also their other children who are shown in 1881 census Victoria Littlejohns who would be aged 10 Marion Littlejohns who would be age 11 Charles Littlejohns who would be aged 23 (but he would be old enough to live on his own, although cannot find him either) I understand they could all of possibly died which is why some of the Littlejohns are now living with their sister in 1891, but It seems weird that 4/5 people from the same family died with in the space of 10 years. Anyones help of this would be appreciated. Thanks, Siobhan |

Can't find any deaths on freebmd (althougfh this is not complete), I wondered if several of the family had died at the same time e.g. in a house fire. |

I suppose a house fire could be possible. The one thing I don't understand though is on William Littlejohns marriage cert, he married in 1894, his father Edward Littlejohns is not on there as deceased. I thought this was always the case if the father was deceased that he was shown as this on the cert. It was someone who searched for the 1891 for me that could not find them, perhaps they are on there but transcribed wrongly. I plan to go to the frc sometime next year, so will try and do a thorough search, if they def are not found then perhaps I should start searching for deaths. |

Hi Siobhan, Will have a look at 91 census to see if I can find any thing. All the females you are looking for could have married by 91.Re the marriage cert, the Father was not always shown as deceased,I have at least 2 certs when I know the father is deceased but this is not stated on the cert. Regards, Liz,inrural Norfolk. |

I think this may possibly be them right ages and marion and victoria were born in Bloomsbury. I wonder if Beatrice was used as another name for Victoria. It sounds like the parents possible did die, and half of the children went to their sister and the others to the grandparents, perhaps they saw wiser for the girls to go to the grandparents. Wonder what happened to Charles though, have you had any luck on him. He was born in Lambeth London, and would be 23 in 1891, I was wondering if he may of joined army which is the reason he cannot be found in 1891 or 1901, cause he should be the easier to find as his surname would not change through marriage. Thanks alot for the help so far, as I think this has also give me their mothers maiden name, which I didn't know before, feel quite excited now. |

Siobhan I have found the following in the 1891 census: Charles J Little age 22 Laundryman married to: Sarah AE age 23 Laundress with daughter Lilian M age 4m Living at 23 Addington Square, Camberwell. Could the enumerator have got confused and thought the John bit was Charles middle name? Also obscurely thinking Robin Hood - Little John/John Little! Gary |

The Mary A Little is a possibilitie. Wish the bleeding transcribers would get things right, is have given me a nightmare with the name Littlejohns believe me. My great great grandparents are on the 1901 transcribed as Littlestone Oh well at least it gives me something to do and keeps me busy. It is ever so exciting when they are eventually found, I truly had tried everything to find them, just goes to show that you get a fresh pair of eyes and presto. Still can't find marion or victoria on 1901 though, I am presuming they may have been married by then, but who know when I am least expecting it, I will find them as well |

thanks Marion would definately be 21 in 1901 the latter Beatrice could be my victoria, will have to look at decoder to see if she is living with anyone else, cos I she has not got her Littlejohns surname I would presume she is married. Others that I cannot find in 1901 are Joseph and Charles Littlejohns, who I mentioned at the top. |
