Hi Hugh, Do you have access to this through Ancestry? I was thinking of trying the 1 month subscription to the census package and wanted to know what you thought of it. Crista |

Hugh Thanks for your offer, I am looking for two families, any help would be appreciated. Joseph Brewster born 1814 Beelsby Lincolnshire. He is on the 1880 census at Owen, Winnebago, Illinois age 66 farmer, wife Elizabeth, Theopholius Atkay Brewster born 1870 Hull Yorkshire. I have him on English census up to 1891. In 1897 he became an American Citizen and married Mabel Elizabeth Hiscock of Creston Illinois. He was a minister and prefered the name T Atkay Brewster. Elgin Illinois is mentioned. He died May 30th 1930, I don't know if this is before or after your census. Her parents were George Hiscock and Emma Amelia Potter. These are all the details i have, any extras such as children/siblings would be great. Regards George |

Hugh Having a great evening tonight, just been able to offer help to two posters, and now find your post offering just what I'm desparate for! Please, please could you look up a Bridget McNamee (nee Kelly). She went to USA from Edenoughill, Killygordon, Co.Donegal in December 1920 and arrived January 1921. She was single when she went over, but married a man called John McNamee, who I think was also born in Killygordon. Bridget was born 28th July 1894, so she would be approx 36 by 1930 (but you know what women can be like about their age). Could I also ask for a search for a MURRAY, we know that one of my grandfathers sisters went to USA, but I'm afraid I don't know what year, the two possible names are Catherine Murray and Mary Anne Murray. Catherine was born 18th Aug 1874 and Mary Anne 17 Mar 1880. It is a bit of a long shot as I don't know if she was married or single when she went over, but her place of birth was Pullyernan, Castlederg, Co.Tyrone. Many thanks, I've got everything crossed! Hello again Hugh, If you have time, could I ask you for another couple of lookups please? I am looking for a John and Alice Wilson(both born England) in 1910 or 1920 census.(surname may be down as Dinning-Wilson) Im afraid I dont have a lot of info about them so maybe I am asking too much of you! Alice was born 1/11/1881 and they emigrated before 1906. They were living in Milwaukee up until 1930ish when they died. Also,I am trying to find Alices 2 sisters,Sarah Hickling and Martha Macbeth, both of these died in 1970s I know Sarah was still in England until at least 1919,so maybe she will turn up on the 1930 census Thanks in advance Anna |

Amanda, don't mean to intrude but...I was told that in the 1800's it was less expensive to travel to Canada than to America. A number of people took a ship from the UK to Canada, then went down to the States. Perhaps that is what he did, even though he travelled in the early 1900's? |

Hello Hugh, I would very much appreciate it if you could look for mention of Arthur Cleghorn Davy. He was born 1892/3 in Durham, England but at some point emmigrated. My mother-in-law insists he went to Canada but I found him on the 1930 census living in Los Angeles. US death records state he died August 1965 in Los Angeles. I believe he married a lady called Olive but haven't found any children. Many thanks in advance Amanda |

Hi Thanks for the offer. Would like to rule out that this ancestor was not american, as he cannot be found anywhere. Could you search any censuses after 1900 for me. His name is Grosvenor Ashford Clarke, don't know dob, but would guess it is around 1900. regards, Siobhan |
