Hi Tracy, I hope you don't mind me asking you to do a look-up for me, as I am sure you have helped me lots of time in the past. I am desparately trying to find Mary Philliphant (Phillifant or other variation) the mother of John Philliphant from Lifton in Devon. I am not sure whether, if she was still alive in 1851, whether she would still have been in Lifton. I am not sure what month of the census was done, but I have found a death record and sent for the certificate of a Mary Phillifant (May 1851) but cannot be completely sure whether it was her. The certificate I have says she was in Totnes, possibly in an asylum. Would be really grateful for any census records or information you could find for me. John and his family are in Lifton in 1851. Brothers William and Richard were in Topsham. Many thanks, Paul C

Thanks Tracy, It is the mother of both this John and Richard that I am searching for. She would be at least 64yrs old, but other than Totnes, which is the only record of a Mary I have been able to find, no idea where she would be in Devon. I take it there is no trace of her? Many thanks one again. Paul C

Tracy, Can you look up Edward Crofts (1) in Somerset? His son Edward Crofts (2) would have been living with him. I only have details for the son - born 1835, Hardington, Somerset. I don't know any more details for Edward senior (1) or his wife. I presume they'd have been living in or near Hardington. Edward senior was a farmer. I hope this is enough information to do a search. Thanks, Emily
