Hi Alison Long shot probably, but I'm looking for Matthew Wasley who was born c 1820 in Cornwall. He was a copper miner orginally when his daughter Catherine was born in 1858, but by the time she married in 1880, he shows as a seaman in the Royal Navy, but also deceased. My guess is that he would have joined up in the early 1860's. Here's hoping, and thanks for your time. Pauline

Hi Alison, I wonder if you are still available for a look up? If so, I would be very grateful if you could look for a Harry Groves. He was a yacht steward and his last trip was in June 1900. I believe that he had a accident a sea, possible that he broke his neck due to a fall on board. He was admitted to the workhouse in Southampton. He had sailed from there on many occacations. Although he was born in Southampton during 1852/3 his birth was not recorded!!! and when he was a few months old, his parents went to live in New York and he was there at the time of the US cesus of 1880. He married in Dover in 1890 and he states that his occupation is a yacht steward so I'm hoping that you might be able to find him and any info. Many thanks for your time and trouble. linda (Groves)

Hi Alison! I do hope your husband is all right and the car is 'dried out'! I realize this is not the optimum moment to ask for a look up but I will be patient! Could you let me have anything on Walter Neilsen GOALEN R.N. b. 1847 Seaforth Lancs. Thanks in advance and I renew my wishes for a speedy return to normality. Hazel

Sorry I haven't replied recently. I have been otherwise occupied. My Hubby drowned our car on the beach and nearly himself at the same time so my mind hasn't been with it. I hope to get back to replying shortly Alison

Hi Alison, Thanks for 8/7/04 reply for Hazell. Sorry I've only just checked the board due to entertaining Italian niece ; this entailed translating all the family history bits plus introducing her to her to various new aunts and uncles "found" on FU/GU !!! I'm sure Joseph Hazell is a relative : were any of the Pill Hazell records easy to pass to me : I suspect they ARE all related. Was there anything under the other names : Anstice Porter Shepherd same port ? I am very grateful for your help Mary
