here is something that might interest you. www.electoralrolluk.co.uk You can subscribe for your life time for £13.75. you can do searches for living people 100 Million 2002,2003 and current 2004 Electoral Roll entries 12 Million UK telephone number records. 42 Million Marriages and Death records. I haven't tried it yet but as I am trying to find some living relatives I'm going to give it a go. Happy searching, Maria :) |

Maria Can't get the website to work. Is the full address in your message or is it missing something at the end? Karen |

You can't post a URL that end in (.)com or (.)co(.)uk as the site removes them, as you can see in the above post. That is why you see so many with brackets around the dots, it fools the system. The address is www.electoralroll(.)co(.)uk Sam |

Thanks Lou and Maria. Did try that site but it appears to be offering a service for electoral roll searches with a cost of £15 for each search result found. Couldn't see any indication of a subscription. Karen |

No, I've just had a look too and nothing that mentions a subscription. Just a charge of £15 per person they find. Cheaper to buy a disc yourself at those prices or ask someone on here for a look up! However, it does say they are closed from yesterday till 16th January, maybe they've removed all the usual links while they're shut cos they have no way of processing anyone joining up. Try after they re-open and see what happens! Lou |

Ok, have just found the page you ended up on. you could be right in that they have moved stuff with them being closed. I tried to find my page by copy and pasting the website add and came up with the origonal page I had. Try copy and pasting the addy ive put with brackets, then remove brackets, see what happens. or is it cos I'm magic ??? lol |

Maria Sorted it - slight difference in the addy you provided versus the one Lou and Sam provided - difference was an extra uk. E-mail addy you provided does work - I can know see the star and the lifetime subscription offer. Have now saved it to my favourites so that I don't lose it. Thanks for the info Karen |

Interim update: Have just subscribed: Looks like the only method of payment is Paypal. (a secure payment service also used by web sites such as e-bay). If you do not have a Paypal account it does provide details on how to set one up (debit card or credit card info needs to be input ) and the site provides more information on what Paypal actually is. Once you have paid you get an acknowledgement mail from Paypal saying the transaction has been processed. It does not look like you get a welcome e-mail from UKPI - however this may come later (I am probably being impatient). It does not look like the subscription allows you to search for the entries yourself. You are provided with an e-mail address to make requests from. I have just sent off an e-mail request for a search for 2 deaths and 1 marriage with a limited number of details - name and potential area. Search request was sent at 6pm on a Friday evening -will see how long it takes them to respond and will let you know if they are successful. Karen |

Update to subscription: Susbscribed 30/12 and sent off three requests : 2 deaths, 1 marriage. E-mailed their helpdesk on 05/01 when I had not had a response and asked them about turnaround times and the types of information they needed (not much info on the website to go on and thought they might be busy over New Year). Was advised they hadn't received my request and to send birth information for death searches. Re-sent request on 06/01 with as much info as I had (year and qtr of birth, location) and received e-mail on 07/01 with recent electoral roll information instead of death information and was advised marriage information would follow. When I queried why I received the electoral roll information I was asked to resend birth information. Responses by e-mail have been fairly prompt (usually the day after I send the request) however the information I require han't materialised yet . It may be easier for them to do electoral roll searches, it looks like they need a lot of specific details to do death and marriage searches. At the moment I'm not convinced it was my best investment. May test out the services with a couple of electoral roll searches to see if I am wrong. Will let you know how it goes. Karen |
