Hi Chloe I am not sure where they were born. I was told my father was born in Scotland but it turned out he was born in Croydon. Debbie |

Could well have been, but as for finding them on censuses, keep a open mind for spellings because the enumerators just wrote down how they thought it should be spelt! Chloe |

Hi Chloe I know back in 1700-1800 it was spelt McQuarrie |

Hi Chloe Maybe it was changed. I remember my father telling me it had been spelt like that as far back as he could remember. Debbie |

Hi Smiley Sammy Thanks for that I will try 1837 online. I am more intrested in traceing them. |

I meant that the spelling might have changed without really being conscious of it. My surname is PERREN, but for some strange reason my gggg grandfather changed it from PERRIN to PERREN when he married in 1807. |

No marriage before 1920 I'm afraid, so you'll need to search 1837 online or FamilyRelatives. A marriage certificate would be a big help in going backwards with their ancestors. It will hopefully give you their fathers names. Or are you more interested in their children maybe? |

Hi Chloe They may have been married in Croydon Surrey but I am not sure. I have been told there were a lot of Macquire's living in Chelsea so it may have been there. Debbie |

Not to sound annoying or anything, but how sure are you of the spelling of the surname, might it have been MAGUIRE? |
