I'm going to the FRC again on Thursday and will try to look up as many as possible of the requests I have on file from last time. Please note that this is NOT an invitation to more requests as I've enough of a backlog already, but if anyone who made a request last time has subsequently had it answered by someone else, please tell me so I don't waste my time finding out what you already know. Thanks, Michael

Eliza, Janine, I'm sorry, I think most of the records relating to immigration and emigration are at the National Archives rather than the FRC - I can try there but I can't promise that there'll be anything. Also Janine, do you know Kathleen's married name and estimated date of marriage please? It would help to know what name to look for in the records... :) Cheers, Michael

Hi Michael, Thank you for a very kind offer. I would be very grateful if you could look at the births and see if you can find Charlott Lee who was aged 9 years in the 1861 census. Her birthplace was not listed but this could be one of the areas in the southwest of London, e.g. Kensington, Notting Hill, etc. I realise this is a difficult search and if you do not have the time I will understand. Grateful for any help whatsoever. June.

Hi Donna, If he was born pre-1837 his birth/baptism would only be recorded in parish registers, which aren't held at the FRC - try http://www.gro-scotland.gov.uk/ Thanks, Michael

Hi Michael Thanks for the advice about the Kerleys - I will have to get to Somerset somehow. Perhaps it would be possible for you to find the record of two births in London: MARY ANNE ROBBINS (sometimes recorded as Robins). Born c.1859 at Clerkenwell, daughter of Robert and Elizabeth Robbins. Robert was a cheesemonger. THOMAS CLARK Born c.1857-60 St. Lukes, Holborn/Clerkenwell/City Road area, son of William and Elizabeth Clark. William was a tobacconist. I realise these are very common names, but I would be thrilled if it is at all possible to find them. Once again, many thanks. Jane

Hello Michael - I would be grateful if you could look up the following for me: Death - somewhere between 1940 and 1947 - BUSHELL William or Robert * died at Wark Crescent, Jarrow on Tyne. I have put * because I need to tell you that he was bapt William and appears as William on early census returns, but suddenly calls himself Robert, so I am not sure which name his death would be registered under. He was born approx 1969 so I expect him to be in his 70's at time of death. Many thanks, Margaret

Michael Report 1 Aug 2005 22:17

OK, deadline reached. Gosh, what a lot of requests. Thanks everyone. 8-) I can't guarantee that I'll get through all of them - the FRC does close at 7! - and I can't guarantee success on the ones that I do try, but I'll do my best.

Michael

Michael Report 2 Aug 2005 23:24

OK, been there done that. As expected, some successes, some failures and some I didn't get time for. Apologies to those who got in first, as it ended up being not so much a case of 'first come, first served' but 'looked like an easy one to search, first served'. I'll reply individually rather than on the thread, hopefully within the next couple of days.
