Please note that neither of these have an index so I will need a town/village. Any other information you can supply will also help. Board requests/replies only please. Von |

Hi Mo, Not much luck I'm afraid. Parts of the 1841 are missing and I can't find the place called Burton where I assume the Paynes would have been in 1841 from the children's birth dates. The only Payne I found in 1861 in Pembroke was the following:- The Golden Lion, 4 Queen Street, Pembroke St. Mary Mary Hurlow Head 40 Publican Born Rosemarket Thomas L. Hurlow Son 11 ' Pembroke Dock Ann PAYNE Niece 18 Dressmaker ' Steynton I'll keep an eye out for them though as I look through other villages. Von P.S. Found Burton and your family!! William Payne 30 Mason Ann ' 30 William ' 11 Matilda ' 5 Isaac ' 2 All born Pembrokeshire |

Hi von-jon Thank you for your very kind offer, you could be the answer to my prayers!!!! Could you please look in the 1841 for A willliam Harrett (sometimes spelt Harret/ harrad/ hanned) born about 1820 in Burton also for his father david Harrett. I had given up for the time being but to find him in the 1841 would be fantastic!!! Thank you Cleo |

Hello Von, I am frustrating myself looking for a lady called Mary Davies. She was an agricultural labourer's widow by 1861. She was born in Lletterston in about 1813. She married a Mr Davies, I don't know whether he was born in Steynton but the sons that I can find were and she was there from at least 1851. In 1851 her husband was alive, she would have been about 38 and her son John would have been just born and they would have been in Steynton. I presume from this that in 1841 she would have been 28 years old, married to Mr Davies, an agricultural labourer, and with other children. If you could have a look for me I would be really very grateful because all I have drawn before 1861 is a big fat blank, and my eyes and brain are fizzing from the effort of trying to work it out! Thanks Abigail |

Hi Diane, I've looked in the 3 parishes of Haverfordwest and whilst there are a lot of Marthas the only one closest to yours agewise is as follows:- Ruther Lane, Haverfordwest St. Thomas Thomas Davies Head 28 Carter Pembrokeshire Mary ' Wife 29 ' Martha ' Dau 7 Scholar Haverfordwest Maria ' ' 3 ' Rebecca ' ' 11m ' If it's not your family but you're able to find out any more details I'll be happy to look it up again for you. Hi Cleo, I've checked in Burton but there are no Harrett's (or variations) there at all. It's possible they moved away - if you have anywhere else I could look I'd be happy to do so. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful. Von |

Hi Cleo, I'm sorry, there's nothing in Haverfordwest. Harrett is a very unusual name for that part of the country - as I look around the county I'll watch out for the name and if I come across any I'll let you know. I'm still in the process of looking through all the discs for my family who also seem to be pretty elusive! Von |

Hi Wendy, Sorry I've been a while but it I had to search around for Landshipping. If you need to know for future reference it's in the parish of Martletwy. No luck I'm afraid with the 1861. On the 1841 in Landshipping the only Davies family is the following:- William Davies 45 Coal Miner Mariah? ' 40 John ' 15 Frank ' 14 Thomas ' 11 Mary ' 8 Henry ' 6 David ' 3 All born Pembrokeshire |

Thanks Von that is really kind. Yes Harrett is an unusual name and has died out down my line. I really need to go to Pembrokeshire record office to look in Burton, although with him being a baptist im not sure how much luck I will have. I managed to find his marrage the other day after 6 months of searching!! His residence was very blury something like parish of Rudbacler???? I dont think a place called that exists though!! Thanks Cleo |
