G/day Gwyneth, As far as we know there was no address on his marriage certificate, as for him being a local we don't think he was. A lovely member from Genes went to the records centre and looked for us. Tim in Oz |

What address does George the PC give on his marriage certificate? Was he local or did they marry in Cobham because it was his wife's home area? |

Hi Tim If George was living in Cobham, then he is unlikely to have been in the Metropolitan Police. He would probably have worked for Surrey police. I don't think any records are online, but this link should tell you a bit more: http://www.surrey.police.uk/aboutus_history_item.asp?artid=1106 |

G'Day Timothy! Re: police records. The National Archives, which has the Met Police records, says: 'Records of other police forces, except the Royal Irish Constabulary, are not public records. Those which survive are held either by the appropriate local record office or the force itself.' For info on the Royal Artillery, I suggest you try googling, but I doubt if the personal info will be online. nell |

Found her in 1901, widow, with son Thomas a house painter, still in Cobham, but agree that family is elusive in 1891. |

Gwyneth Looking at map the 2 places are miles apart, so looks like it's back to the hunt again. I thought he might have joined the constabulary after leaving the military - there I go, jumping to conclusions again! UPDATE: Can't be him - on 1861 there are 2 George Rushby born 1850 in Furstow and Sturton |

Christine That George looked the most likely out of the ones listed, I thought. I don't know Lincolnshire place names to know whether this 1871 George and the one I found in 1881 could be the same person. |
