Mike, his father is a Tinman in 1861. The address, I think, is White Horse Ct. In 1871, it's 6 Sawyer Place.

Mary, I'll try again to find them in 1881, but they really could be anywhere. There is a strong Welsh connection, so they could be there, but I had a look and couldn't see anything. There is this one, but I can't decide if it's her ot not. John Edwards abt 1821 Skenfrith, Monmouth, Wales Head 122 Pembrok Lodge, Hereford St Owen, Herefordshire, England Elizabeth Edwards abt 1818 Kings Pyon, Hereford, England Wife 122 Pembrok Lodge, Hereford St Owen, Herefordshire, England Martha Edwards abt 1862 Hereford, England Daughter 122 Pembrok Lodge, Hereford St Owen, Herefordshire, England

Hi Tracy, Here is another little mystery for you!! Charles Poole born c 1845 in Yorkshire, probably Sheffield married Ann Wright born c 1845 in Sheffield. Is it possibe to find their marriage. It is not showing on LDS or FreeBMD. Their first child William Wright Poole was born 1864 and daughter Alice Poole born 1869 in Sheffield. She 'married' again by 1874 but can only find death for Charles in 1886 in Ecclesall Bierlow aged 40. I have Ann on 1861 census, General Servant to Dentist, 161 Cemetery Road, Sheffield and in 1871 she is back living with parents and two children, no sign of Charles. Hopefully, Margaret

Hi Tracy. You did say mysteries didn't you? I'm looking for the first marriage of a Henry Grattan Guinness, born 11 Aug 1835 (IGI) in Dublin. His wife was Fanny Emma, born Enfield about 1831. She died in 1898 in Bakewell, he married again in Hastings in 1903 (IGI) and died in 21 June 1910. Can't find a marriage. They could have been married in Ireland? Or they were involved in missionary work so may have been married abroad, possibly Congo. In the 1881 census they were at the East London Missionary Institute, Bow, London E. in 1890 daughter Geraldine was in China, maybe the Mary Geraldine on the 1881. Geraldine had a sister, (not named) who published some of her letters. PS Can't find him on the 1901. David

Margaret, unfortunately, their marriage is probably in the black hole on FreeBMD between 1861 and 1865. I only have complete records 1866-1920.

David, this is the family as I can find it... Henry G Guinness abt 1836 Dublin, Ireland Fanny E Guiness abt 1832 Enfield, Middlesex, England Mary G Guiness abt 1863 Liverpool Lucy E Guinness abt 1866 Dublin, Ireland Gersom W Guinness abt 1870 Paris, France So, the probabity is that they either married here, before 1863 or abroad somewhere. Given that Henry was a missionary, I'd say anything is possible. There are a few Overseas marriages on 1837online which you could search. I don't have access to much before 1866.

In 1861 Census he is living with his wife Martha his child Ann who is 35 and some lodgers. His occupation is gardener on this census (labourer on his son's marriage cert ) 1861 referenceRG9 1911 page 139 residing in sandon, staffs Can you find him? Thanks in advance. Lynn

Hi Tracy, Thanks for looking for the marriage of Charles Poole and Ann Wright. Perhaps you could try to find Ann Wright's 2nd marriage to Walter Rodgers for me please. Their 1st child was born 1874 in Sheffield, so I am presuming that, if they did marry, it would be before that time. Regards, Margaret :-)

Lynn Report 14 Oct 2005 14:27

Hi Tracey! It is definately him...thanks for your help. Podmore is mis-spelt hence I couldn't locate him. What it does mean is that when his first wife died - Martha (allegedly 1864) he didn't mess about getting married again. So I will now search to see if there is amarriage between 1864 and 1871. Fingers crossed Lynn

Unknown Report 14 Oct 2005 15:29

Hi Tracy, Just as I thought. I have a feeling that these two didn't marry until after her first husband's death which I think I have found in 1886 9c 211 March qtr, Sheffield!!!!! I couldn't find it either. Thanks for looking for me. Margaret

Lynn Report 14 Oct 2005 15:42

Now this is a real mystery because I only have a marriage cert to go off and don't know where people were born which makes it really difficult to find her in the 1901 census. So here goes... Elizabeth Riding married in Dec 1905 aged 22, to William ward (Plainer) living in church street, Chorlton in Manchester. her father is called Joseph riding and he is a gasfitter I would bow down in awe if you solved this one! Lynn

Sorry Anne, but I have no records to be able to check between 1901 and 1920. I can only check addresses for information of people, and BMDs.
