Youre right Ancestry has the Answer, but i have noticed a sharp decline over the last few months in my local studies library, the bbc programs catapulted it in to space, but now it has fell back worse than say 2 years ago, a lot of companies thought there was going to be fourtunes made out of this, but i think family research is in a decline, and lets be right as soon as Ancestry as the 1841 on it is going to peak and the following year fall sharply, it is then i think they will come looking for all the free look ups and stop it like these other sites are now doing, if they were making lots of money they would not be bothered about the odd free look up. but i dont think some will get the money back on the rights they paid the goverment, for the census images.
