Gillian Jennifer Report 17 Dec 2005 20:26

My Family tree is a present to my sister for Christmas, I have gone back generations on my Mothers side, but my Fathers-brick wall-what I need is parents of William Irwin-born in Ireland-oooh!!! I can almost hear the groans-in 1851 ish married to Jane Mc Combs-lived in Heworth, Durham, England-I desperately need his parents names-both born somewhere in Ireland, I believe he had a sister called Sarah born about 1856-tried all the suggested sites and nothing-can anybody help please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Vera Report 17 Dec 2005 20:31

Hi Jennifer, Not sure if I can help. Where in Ireland and what year was he born ? Regards Vera

Gillian Jennifer

Gillian Jennifer Report 17 Dec 2005 20:39

This is my problem, I do not know-guess the year to be about 1830 ish - but truly a guess, have searched high and low-nothing - County Tyrone came up somewhere, but family tell me Armagh-is that spelt right-honestly lost here-just gone back to g/g/ grandad William as I said he moved to Heworth, Durham, married a Jane Mc Combs in 1886 and I think died in 1899-but nothing has his parents details on-again a guess-but the family seem to favour David and William as Christian names, and as I think his sister is Sarah, perhaps that is his Mothers name-I honestly am stuck-tried every avenue I know but only been doing this for 6 months-seems like an eternity-thanks for replying anyway-jennifer.

Thank you to everyone who has helped me here. Definitely right Mc Combs and am sifting through the rest and wil get it added to my tree in time for Christmas -but doubt I will get any certs before then-Can you tell me how I can join my sister on GR from my computer-so she can just turn hers on Christmas Day and I can e-mail her to take a look. Off to make a cuppa be back very soon - thank you all and hope you have a Happy Christmas. Think of me at work all Christmas.-gratefully Jennifer.

The Bag

The Bag Report 18 Dec 2005 18:02

Im not sure that you can , although i dont see why if you know her e-mail address and use her christian name as her password, then send her a message with access to your tree, that it wouldnt work. She doesnt have to be a member to view you tree if you grant her permission

Gillian Jennifer Report 18 Dec 2005 18:19

Thanks for that Jess, I thought she had to be member, sorry if I sound thick, but been icing dam christmas cakes all week at work and with Sunday lunch as well today, my minds puddled-took print outs from genes to ponder over in my break - but never managed a proper break-so how will my sister Pat get to see my tree? Well it will be hers by then - or maybe ours cos I think I am hooked - jennifer.
