Kate There are quite a few other places from up there where he might be from log onto www*durham*gov(.)co(.)uk replacing * with . In popular pages on the right have a look at the Records Office Site.. Click on Our Holdings and in the last paragraph Family History.. Then this will get you into the Church's on the left... Have a search around on the maps that are assoicated with each parish.. as it could be possible that Witton Park... Bedburn or something similar might crop Up..There's also Morley up that way.. Have a Look around Mo

Hello Mo- Excellent idea of yours to look at Joiners index, despite all the variations of Cummings, there is only one marriage of a Richard in the right time frame (everything else is way too early). This is the entry: Richard Cummin, 1826, db - which is Denton. I looked it up, it's North West of Darlington, South East of Bishop Aukland. If you could see if this chap is married to a Mary that would be brilliant. Thanks a lot, Brenda

Hi Maureen, I hope you don not mind my asking - but can you advise or suggest, how I could possibly find the deaths of two people in Shildon, Co. Durham. I know when they were married (1921), their names - WILLIAM THOMAS HUTCHINSON & Florence Alice IRVING, (both married for the second time). But I have no idea as to when they died. I've checked in various ways, but no luck - any ideas please. ?? Regards.. John

Hi John The best thing would be to try and find the deaths in the St Catherine's House Index..At Local Library's On 1837 online Pay per View.. On the Ancestry Beta Index which is free to search at the moment even if your not a member.. It will be a trawl through each and every quarter until you find them.. A search over a lot of years eg 20 or more is too time consuming...to do a search in the Burials books....for Shildon Mo

Hi Susan Douglas Well I have looked through 4 different parish records for around Seaham Harbour.. The burials for Seaham Harbour must still be held at the Church for the timeframe that you require.. I have checked Dalton le Dale St Andrew Seaham St Mary New Seaham Christ Church only to 1954 and even checked Houghton le Spring St Michael and All Angel.. Which is all the neighbouring Churches for Burials that were available I am sorry I have not been able to help you further.. Mo

Mo- Thank you, thank you, thank you! What a wonderful person you are! I was on the DRO site last week and looked at the map to see where they were and found out that they're almost exactly opposite Dryburn Hospital... not a big deal, but that's where I was born! Take care, Brenda

Hi Maureen You were kind enough to do a look up for me on my great grandparents a few weeks ago. May I ask for some more look-ups next time you go to the records office? Margaret Ann Bone [b18/2/1909] married George Steggar on16/04/1936 at Langley Moor. I'm a bit stumped with George so any details from the marriage cert would be appreciated. Joseph Herbert Dawson (my grandfather) born 25/08/1898 [Pittington so I am led to believe], bap 25/09/1898 at Lyons Parish Church,Durham. Am trying to find more information on his mother Many thanks Angie
