Well done Elaine! Why do they keep changing their place of birth though. You've now added Mary into the equation - I didn't even know of her existance.

On the 1841 census there are 2 possible Joseph Malkins MALKIN JOSEPH M 20 STAFFORDSHIRE WILD GOOSE HOUSE BRADNOP LEEK STAFFORDSHIRE Mary Malkin 55 Joseph 20 George 15 James 15 Alice Wheeldon 15 MALKIN JOSEPH M 18 STAFFORDSHIRE HALMER END HALMER END AUDLEY STAFFORDSHIRE James Malkin 20 Harriett 20 Hannah 2 Mary 1 week Joseph 18 Unfortunately neither of these gives a father´s name ! - and I don´t know if either one is correct !

don´t think they have changed their name - probably just a mistranscription - have looked at image and could be MALKIN

I notice that they have changed from Malkin to Matkin in the 1871 census and Hannah has also changed her place of birth to Talk! Wish they'd make their minds up. No wonder its so difficult tracing back families!

We seem to be on the right track now - so all the previous stuff we found is not right - but will leave it there for the moment. Elaine

Hi On the 1881 census I have Joseph Malkin being born in around 1822 in Leek, Staffs - he was a general labourer and Hannah born in 1831/32 in Astbury, Cheshire. They were married in 1860 but there was a son, Thomas, born in 1858 - either illegitimate or maybe he was Hannah's. Hope this is of some use. Cheers Thanks for all your help, I really appreciate it.
