hi i would be grateful if you could look on the 1916 directory for edwin micthell merritt in beverley, john aspin and his wife ada gertrude foley in hull, richard atkinson and wife ruth ann dixon in hull. (i have inc wifes names as im not sure when husbands died) louise

Hi Tom, Here's what I found in 1916 Kelly's directory of Hull;- Mrs Lavinia Askew 'shopkeeper' 9 St Paul's street, Hull Frederick Askew 'butcher' 35 Lansdowne Street, Hull Neither name appears on the 1936 Kelly's directory under the trade or private resident sections. Cheryl

Hi Cheryl Thanks for the offer. Please could you look for Mary and/or Emily Walker in the 1916 directory. In 1901 they were running a confectionary shop at 515 Anlaby Road, Hull. I know Walker is an exceedingly common name, so if it's too tall an order I will quite understand! lol Jeanette x PS. I'll be back to bother you with a few more later! lol

Hi Kath, I'm presuming you are looking for Smelt within Hull itself. 1916 Kelly's directory;- Arthur 'foreman' 56 westcott st. hull George henry 'road inspector' 68 Liddel st. hull Mrs Mary 6 Conway st. hull 1936 Kelly's directory;- Arthur 'foreman' 27 faraday st. hull Chas. 2 exmouth st. hull Charles L 'clerk' 40 Monmouth st. hull mrs Mary 6 conway st. hull mrs Smelt, 3 richmond tce. hull If you have a specific name, occupation or address I can double check for alternate entries. Cheryl, I have a large number of Smelt's . Too many to list they all lived in the Beverley area and Sculcoates . So if there are any you can find that are in that area that would be great many Thanks Cath

Hi Cath Sculcoates is included with Hull in 1916. There is just one more found in Beverley in 1916;- George Smelt 96 Norwood, Beverley (private resident0 No entries for Beverley under trade section for Smelt. Cheryl

Hi Judith 1916 kelly's for beverley;- mrs jane a hall 14 toll gavel, beverley 'confectioners'. Robert Morrine Maxwell the laurels, norwood, beverley (private resident) R M Maxwell & son 'corn & seed merchants' 16 North Bar within, Beverley' (trade listing) 1936 only covers Hull itself sorry. Hi Judith, No problem. There weren't that many Maxwells in Beverley in 1916. Neither Stanley or Donald were listed under private residents or trade. The other Maxwells are;- Mrs Elsie 'milliner' 31 Toll Gavel - trade entry Mrs K P Maxwell, 24 St Mary's terrace - private entry No entries for any Calverts at all. I also checked Beveley Parks, Molescroft etc.. for both surnames. Cheryl

Hi Judith, No Jack Todd or surname Male in 1916. Looked for any Maxwell entries in Leven;- Robert Maxwell & son ltd. 'corn merchants', Canal Head, Leven. Presumably this is connected to the Beverley branch? Cheryl
