Matthew Henry Curtis bn 1830 Gt Ouseburn. married Mary (surname not known).Bn 1833 Linton On Ouse. Matthew died 1874. Mary married again to a William Nicholson from York. Marriage details of both would be great please. Thanks deb :-) P.s all these places are in North Yorkshire

Hi Elaine. Yes i have looked already and have two seperate dates for matthews marriage. Cant decide which is the right one. Havent looked for Nicholson one yet. How would i find marys maiden name? Deb

You could use FreeBMD to try and find the marriage. Just put the wife's first name as well as his full name. FreeBMD will throw up all possibilities. What census have you got with each married couple on ? Use the ages of any children to each marriage as a guideline to find the year of marriage. You haven't left any or enough details for us to try and help you. Elaine ;-)

Here you go : Marriages Mar 1876 Curtis Mary York 9d 23 NICHOLSON William York 9d 23 You now have enough details of BOTH couple to be able to ask for lookups on the appropriate census's. 1861 & 1871 for Matthew and Mary 1881, 1891 and 1901 for William & Mary. Give people the dates of birth for Matthew and Mary ... They will be able to find William & Mary using Mary's year of birth.
