Find Ancestors

Does anyone have access to the 1851 or 1861 Salford, Regent Road census. Apparently it got water damaged but now 98% of names have been recovered. I've heard it can be bought on cd. Does anyone know if it's online yet? Does anyone have the cd & would do a look up for me? Thanks Claire

I'm looking for a 'Kennedy' family. They lived at 49 Regent Road Salford. Ellen Kennedy was a daughter & her father was Thomas Kennedy. I'm trying to find them on the census to find mother & any brothers & sisters she might have had. I have Ellens marriage certificate - 1965. I can find Ellen on later census but record of her before 1871. Any help much appreciated. Thanks

Here's the tricky bit I have different information! On her marriage certificate 1865 it says she was 26 so born abt 1839. However, on the 1891 census it says she was born abt 1835. I'm not sure which is right.

She married Arthur Fitzroy Thompson September 1865

You heard correctly. 1851 Salford is very badly damaged and a lot of it is unreadable.... but NOT all.! 1841 is worse. Mostly unreadable UNLESS you have the S & N Disc's - they are so much clearer - don't know why or how ! Elaine ;-)

Yes, I found Sarah Kennedy next door too. I've yet to discover who she is. I'm guessing maybe Thomas Kennedy's sister because on the 1901 census she was living with Frederick Fitzroy Thompson the eldest son of Ellen & Arthur & was stated as their Aunt.

Claire, You would be better off buying a subscription to TheGenealogist website and getting access to the 1841 Lancashire Name Index. This will give you the names of everyone in the household - and by giving us the reference numbers against the names - then those of us with the 1841 Lancashire on disc can do a lookup and give you the extra details that the Name Index doesn't give you. I don't know Sarahs fathers name. Ellen Kennedy married Arthur Fitzroy Thompson in September 1865. Ellens fathers name was Thomas Kennedy. I'm guessing Sarah is Thomas' sister.

Yes you're right she must be Ellens sister. Think I'm going mad. It's mind boggling!

I don't think thats them, I could be wrong but the place of birth I have for Ellen is Irlam O'th Height & Pendleton. Don't know if they are the same place.
