Christine - thanks for your help, I was hesitating about that cert .. but believe you are probably right! Suzanne - on 1901, I have a 31 (b Tun Wells) and a 32 (b Winchester) year old William BLUNT. My hang up is that the Naval Record places William John BLUNT (b Winchester 1869) in Ramsgate as a Coastguard boatman in 1901 .... I think I'll just get that marriage cert for Wm J and Minnie STEER and see what happens. The compelling thing for me is that it is quite likely that a younger brother would follow and elder sibling into the Navy, despite the wrong birth information on his naval records I suppose it could still be him ... only person who remembers exactly when someone was born is a parent! Thanks for all your brainpower on this one - it has helped to think it through with two other people. Kind regs Annie |
