Find Ancestors

Hi guys Im new to this site,and this is my first attempt at using it,so please excuse my ignorance if im in the wrong place. i have worked on my tree for 2 weeks,and have found out quite a lot by my own steam.unfortunately,i cant get any further.ill give as much info as i can,i think the answer is gonna be to buy a birth certificate,but can anyone more experienced work it out? really you need to track down your chaps marriage cert, and find his fathers name that way

I think it's John and Elizabeth as the address is the same in 1891 and 1901 and the barge boatman is the same occupation. Janice

i think it is john and elizabeth,lookin at the 1891 census,and 1881 census reads 'traveller'.the other 2 couples ive mentioned,on the 1881 & 1871 censuses,have a william,born in tipton,around 1872.does anyone think it could be either of these? p.s thanx 4 the excellent response,guys

You can buy, but they are sent by post. currently taking about 4 weeks from the GRO I think.

Hi Stuart, Orangeblossom gives you the 1871 census record and the family appear to have been born in various parts of the country. At that time they were said to be residing in Baswich, Stafford. The canal runs through Baswich, Derby, Weston on Trent, and of course the Grand Union canal runs through London. May I suggest that this is a bargees family and that they were moored at Baswich in 1871. Regards Pete A.
