An excellent idea - EXCEPT - there weren't any Joseph Tennyson's or Tennison's born in Lancashire in 1860-1863 (remember my post earlier??) Excluding the ones born in East Yorkshire - below is all there are 1860-1864. I can only suggest you try & find them in the 1861 or 1871 to rule them out. Maria tenison was q1/1860 whitechapel 1c/429 Jane Ann tennison q3/1860 Radford 7b/166 (NOTTINGHAMSHIRE) Henry tennison was q1/1861 bethnal green 1c/276 Walter tennison was q4/1861 nantwich 8a/263 Arthur frederick tennison was q1/1862 st geo in east 1c/426 Richard charles tennison was q1/1862 nottingham 7b/203 Benjamin tennison was q4/1862 bethnal green 1c/283 Laura Ada tenison was q2/1863 w derby 8b/392 (AT LEAST THIS IS IN LANCASHIRE, lol) Samuel james tennyson was q2/1863 sheffield 9c/324 Violet tennyson was q4/1863 pembroke 11a/654 Ada jane tennison was q2/1864 nantwich 8a/309 Mary caroline tennyson was q2/1864 gt boughton 8a/410 THIS IS CHESHIRE) Eliza annie tenison q4/1864 w derby 8b/521

STEVE - you (or people on this board) are going to have to go through those births I posted a couple of messages up and see if any of them tie in with the little bit of info you have. Bear in mind that as he was a 'theatrical' he probably took a bit of theatrical licence with his name, age and place of birth. Jools

Jools, Interesting point about theatrical name/age etc. Augustus Leopold Lynch, who was a witness in the marriage of Joseph Tennyson, decided that he was born in Australia according to the 1901 census and had become a lot younger! No doubt something to do with the fact that he had married a younger woman second time around - Daisy Maud Lane, born c1898, rather than the 'older' Emily Sarah White, born 7 Sep 1867! Poetic licence eh! Steve
