There's this birth, I believe Westminster covers St Anne's which is the birth place for Jane in the 1891 census I gave. Still can't find the family in 1901. Surname First name(s) District Vol Page -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Births Jun 1882 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Short Jane Emma Westminster 1a 505

Deborah That is the ONLY other ref I can find to my Fordhams, assuming the 1891 and 1901 ones are the correct ones!! I HAVE learnt something today tho thanks to you, and that is the existance of Alfred W. As there is a blank line on the first page i never thought to look at the next page, and when I originally got the copy Ancestry di NOT list the famil as they do now!! Gerry ;-))

I think you really ned to search for his birth cert to obtain mothers name........have you searched for this yet?

Gerry

Gerry Report 16 Aug 2006 17:00

Deborah yes there is nothing recorded for marrital status, but that applies for every one who isn't married on that particula page...... I would suggest the person filling in the form took the short cut of only saying when people were married. I think the Jane is correct as age 4.......... the person above, aged 19 is I think called Jenny..... its looks as tho the y has nat been crossed out. Gerry :-))

Gerry

Gerry Report 16 Aug 2006 16:48

Deborah They were both living at 82 Cleveland St, wherever that was.. i assume the parish of St John, Fitzroy Sq,London where they were married. Jane Emma's father was John Short, Blacksmith and one of the witnesses was Sarah Short (Mother or sister i would imagine) Gerry :-))

Fiona

Fiona Report 16 Aug 2006 16:48

Sorry about all the questions but what was Charles Richards occ on the marriage certificate? you said his father was a cab driver. Also what was Jane Emma's fathers name?

Gerry

Gerry Report 16 Aug 2006 16:44

They were both 18 at marriage which gives a birth date of about 1883. I could/cannot find Jane Emma Short or her family in 1901 census. To be honest i think its pretty unlikely they would have lived apart just on month after marriage. Anyway, the Richard i have on 1901 census is shown as unmarried. Gerry :-))

Fiona

Fiona Report 16 Aug 2006 16:33

Gerry

Gerry Report 16 Aug 2006 16:32

Fiona That is correct!! I know i may have the wrong marriage, but i think it very unlikely as this was the only one i could find with relevant names. MORE or LESS!! Gerry :-))
